O trabalho, um valor em mutação? Análise das representações sociais do trabalho de duas gerações de trabalhadores portugueses

Abstract

O presente estudo relata uma tentativa de exploração das dinâmicas que subjazem as representações sociais do trabalho de dois grupos de trabalhadores portugueses com duas faixas etárias distintas, os adultos e os jovens. Realizaram-se 37 entrevistas semi-estruturadas e as respostas foram alvo de uma análise de conteúdo. Os resultados indicam que o trabalho se define essencialmente em torno de dois pólos, o financeiro e o humano. Adicionalmente, a representação como forma de realização é mais saliente do que a representação como gratificação económica. Ainda que as representações de ambas as gerações sobre o que é o trabalho, a sua importância e o que valorizam nele, sejam muito próximas, parece existir um antagonismo entre elas no que toca aos efeitos dos avanços tecnológicos e principalmente à perceção entre elas. This study reports an attempt to explore the dynamics underlying the social representations of work between two groups of Portuguese workers with different ages, the adults and the young. 37 half structured interviews were performed and the answers were the subject of a content analysis. The results show that the work is essentially defined around two dimensions, the financial and the human. Additionally, representation as personal fulfillment is more prominent than representation as economic gratification. However, although the representations of both generations about what work is, its importance and what they value in it, are very close, there seems to be an antagonism between them regarding the effects of technological advances and especially the perception between them.
