Causas do abandono e condições de vida e saúde de idosos em Luanda-Angola

Abstract

Segundo a literatura internacional a identificação de maus-tratos contra idosos deve contemplar uma avaliação que utilize fontes diversas de informação como, por exemplo, portadores de serviços, e/ou agentes que intervêm nas situações de abuso. Estudos recentes revelam que o fenómeno da violência contra as pessoas idosas está a aumentar em Portugal, não se tendo registado até à data, qualquer estudo deste tipo na população Angolana. Este estudo incide sobre a análise de dados colhidos através de entrevista a idosos em Lar da Terceira Idade em Luanda, durante o período de tempo compreendido entre Julho e Setembro de 2011. Foram estudados diversos parâmetros relativos ao género, idade, estado civil, nível de escolaridade, residência, profissão anterior, estado de saúde actual e anterior. Este trabalho possibilita o conhecimento, do ponto de vista forense, da caracterização da existência de maus-tratos e das condições de vida na população idosa na cidade de Luanda.

According to the international literature, the recognition of abuse against the elderly should include an assessment that uses different sources of information like service providers and/or other agents that intervene in the abuse situations. Recent studies reveal that the violence phenomenon against the elderly is increasing in Portugal, whilst there are no studies made in this area in the population of Angola. This study focus on the analysis of data collected through interviews to the elderly in a Retirement Home in Luanda, between July and September 2011. Several parameters related to gender, age, marital status, educational level, residence, previous occupation, current and previous health status, were studied. This work will enable the knowledge, from the forensic point of view, of the characterization of the existence of abuse and the living conditions of the elderly population in Luanda.
