Biography
Joana Rosa Baião Latas. Currently she is a PhD candidate in History of Sciences and Scientific Education at University of Coimbra with a grant from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), SFRH/BD/149645/2019. Joana is the (co-)author of papers related with Mathematics Education, Etnhomathematics, Science Education and editor of a book with educational tasks for Astronomy for Development. In the last couple of years she has worked at the Gestão de Ciência e Tecnologia level at NUCLIO – Núcleo Interactivo de Astronomia, as (co)coordinator of Education and Outreach projects. She has extensive experience in Mathematics teaching in Portugal, Guiné-Bissau and São Tomé and Príncipe in elementary, high, and higher levels. Joana is a certified trainer by Scientific and Pedagogical Council of Continuous Training (University of Minho, Portugal). She was Vice-President of the Mathematics Teachers Association in Portugal (2010-2012). Joana has (co)organized national and international outreach events. She is a member of Mathematics of Planet Earth committee, headed by Portuguese National Commission for UNESCO, and also a member of the Portuguese Language Office of Astronomy for Development for International Astronomical Union (PLOAD-IAU) steering committee.
