The first part of the work contemplates a critical balance of the Curriculum Internship carried out at Farmácia São José, in the form of SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weakness, Opportunities, Threat). In the second part, it will be possible to find a description and critical analysis of the Internship held at Bluepharma®, Indústria Farmacêutica S.A. The third part, referring to the Monograph, is entitled "Herbal Medicines in the Regulation of Appetite".Appetite is the sensation through which bodies understand the need to ingest energy. Despite being heavily regulated by homeostatic mechanisms involving the central nervous system(CNS), adipose tissue, and the gastrointestinal tract, numerous social and environmental factors, such as physical activity, age, intestinal microbiota, circadian rhythm, and stress, cause appetite dysregulation and, consequently, induce phases in which food consumption imbalance occurs. The search for safe, low toxicity therapeutic options for the appetite regulation is greatly expanding. Thus, vegetable substances and preparations will become viable alternatives. Garcinia cambogia, Vitis vinifera, Phaseolus vulgaris and Caralluma fimbriata are among the plants proven to have appetite-suppressing effects. In contrast, Gentiana olivieri, Myristica fragrans, Rikkunshito and Coriandrum sativum contain compounds proven to have appetite-stimulating results. The therapeutic potential of such plants must be considered for the development of new herbal medicines. However, further studies are needed to prove their efficiency and safety. |
