Estudo da viabilidade da utilização de plataformas web na gestão e otimização de filas de espera com vista à mitigação da sobrelotação de espaços.

Abstract

Considerando o período pandémico em que o estudo em que se insere esta dissertação se iniciou e, a tentativa de apresentar soluções que convirjam para garantias das melhores condições sanitárias dos espaços, o objetivo principal deste trabalho é apresentar uma solução para a otimização de filas de espera com vista à mitigação da sobrelotação desses mesmos espaços, com recurso a tecnologias de informação, tão comuns aos dias de hoje. Como tal, propõe-se a utilização de plataformas Web, não só para reduzir o número de utentes em simultâneo no espaço alvo de estudo, mas também na gestão de recursos e meios desse mesmo espaço.Assim, tendo em conta os conceitos e soluções encontradas por outros autores da comunidade científica sobre este assunto, foi desenvolvida uma plataforma Web com vista à redução ou eliminação das filas de espera em espaços de refeições como refeitórios e/ou cantinas, i.e., a FastCanteen. Dentro da descrição detalhada da plataforma é possível aferir os diferentes níveis de utilizador que existem devido às diferentes perspetivas de utilização. Assim, de ressalvar diferenças existentes na estrutura de gestão quando se opta por uma solução como aquela que se apresenta neste estudo. De seguida, um plano de implementação é descrito de forma detalhada tendo em vista as diferentes áreas de implantação, ou seja, todas as operações envolvendo o espaço físico e todas aquelas envolvendo o desenvolvimento e publicação da plataforma Web.Através de modelos teóricos, foi possível aferir a qualitativa e quantitativamente a melhoria da solução proposta, prevendo-se ganhos significativos no que diz respeito a tempos de atendimento e redução drástica no número de pessoas presentes em simultâneo no refeitório e/ou cantina. Apesar de tudo, aferiu-se a existência de margem para melhorias, quer a nível de plataforma Web, quer a nível de infraestrutura, as quais demonstram a adequação deste tipo de soluções não só a título excecional como aquele em que se vive, como também a nível de solução de futuro para este tipo de serviços.

Considering the pandemic period which the study addressed in present dissertation began, and the attempt to present solutions that converge to guarantee the best sanitary conditions of the spaces, the main objective of this work is to present a solution for the optimization of queues in order to mitigate the overcrowding of spaces, using information technologies, so commonly used today. As such, the use of Web platforms is proposed, not only to reduce the number of simultaneous users in the target space of study, but also in the management of resources and means of that same space.Thus, considering the concepts and solutions found by other authors in the scientific community about this subject, a Web platform was developed to reduce or eliminate queues in meal spaces such as cafeterias and/or canteens, i.e., FastCanteen. Within the detailed description of the platform, it is possible to see the different user levels that exist due to the different perspectives of use. Thus, it is worth noting the differences in management structure when opting for a solution such as the one presented in this study. Next, an implementation plan is described in detail with the different implementation areas in mind, that is, all operations involving the physical space and all those involving the development and publication of the Web platform.Through theoretical models, it was possible to assess the improvement of the proposed solution, observing significant gains qualitatively and quantitatively in terms of service times and a drastic reduction in the number of people present simultaneously in the cafeteria and/or canteen. Despite everything, there is room for improvement, both in terms of web platform and infrastructure, which demonstrate the suitability of this type of solution not only as an exception as the one we live in, but also as a solution for the future for this type of services.
