A tradução de um romance histórico contemporâneo: o caso de "El manuscrito de piedra", de Luis García Jambrina

Abstract

Este trabalho de projeto tem como objetivo a apresentação de uma proposta de tradução para a língua portuguesa do prólogo e seis primeiros capítulos da obra espanhola "El manuscrito de piedra", do autor Luis García Jambrina. Ainda que seja um autor contemporâneo com uma obra intemporal que retrata Fernando de Rojas, escritor de "La Celestina", numa perspetiva realista e ficcional e que envolve uma trama detectivesca, esta não apresenta nenhuma tradução para a língua portuguesa, o que motivou a minha escolha para a tradução deste projeto. Para a sua tradução foi selecionado o método funcionalista de análise textual de Christiane Nord, que tem como propósito auxiliar o tradutor em momentos decisivos e permitir que este faça as escolhas mais coerentes. Já para a resolução dos problemas de tradução foram empregues os métodos de Vinay e Dalbernet.Este trabalho, dedicado ao estudo aprofundado da obra de 2008, será dividido em seis partes. O primeiro capítulo será constituído por um enquadramento da vida e obra do autor e, ainda, pela descrição do género literário novela negra, um dos géneros em que a obra se insere. Já o segundo capítulo abordará um dos temas principais deste trabalho: a dimensão realista existente em "El manuscrito de piedra" e como é que estes aspetos foram introduzidos pelo autor, de modo a criar um efeito. O resumo completo da obra, bem como a proposta de tradução estarão presentes no terceiro capítulo. No quarto capítulo será desenvolvida a análise textual, tendo por base a obra de Christiane Nord "Análise textual em tradução: bases teóricas, métodos e aplicação didática", onde serão introduzidos os fatores extratextuais e intratextuais. O quinto capítulo ditará as especificidades do género do romance histórico e o que implica a sua tradução. Seguidamente, no capítulo seis, será feita uma análise dos problemas de tradução, segundo os métodos de tradução de Vinay e Dalbernet presentes na sua obra "Comparative Stylistics of French and English: A Methodology for Translation". Finalmente, este mesmo capítulo dividir-se-á em dez outras partes sendo estas: tempos verbais, regências verbais, tradução de formas de tratamento, tradução de léxico problemático, marcadores discursivos, expressões idiomáticas, expressões fixas, falsos amigos, recursos estilísticos e outras situações problemáticas.

This project presents a translation proposal to the Portuguese language of the prologue and the first six chapters of the Spanish book "El manuscrito de piedra", by the author Luis García Jambrina. Even though he is a contemporary author with a timeless novel that describes Fernando de Rojas, the well-known author of "La Celestina" in a realistic and fictional perspective, and that involves a detective story, this novel still does not have a translation to the Portuguese language, which motivated my choice for the translation of this project. For itstranslation, the method selected was Christiane Nord´s functionalist model of textual analysis, which aims to help the translator in decisive moments and allow him to make the most coherent choices. As for the resolution of the translation problems, the methods used were those by Vinay and Dalbernet.Dedicated to the in-depth study of the 2008 novel, this work will be divided in six parts. The first chapter will consist of the author´s life and work, and the detailed description of one of the literal genres in which the novel falls into, the novela negra genre. The second chapter, on the other hand, will address one of the main themes of this work: the realistic dimension clearly present in "El manuscrito de piedra" and how these features were placed by the author in order to create an effect. The complete summary of the novel, as well as the translation proposalwill appear in the third chapter. In the fourth chapter a text analysis based on Christiane Nord´s work "Análise textual em tradução: bases teóricas, métodos e aplicação didática" will be developed, introducing the external and internal factors. The fifth chapter will determine the specificities of the historical novel genre and what are its demands when translating it. Afterwards, in chapter six, an analysis of the translation problems will be carried out. The later will be based on the translation methods of Vinay and Dalbernet referenced in their work"Comparative Stylistics of French and English: A Methodology for Translation". Lastly, this same chapter will divide in ten other parts, those being: verb tenses, verbal regency, forms of treatment, translation of problematic lexicon, discourse markers, idiomatic expressions, fixed expressions, false friends, rhetorical devices and other problematic situations.
