Representaciones de género. Capacidad y raza en Joker: interseccionalidad y descolonización

Abstract

El objetivo principal de este artículo es realizar un análisis de las representaciones de capacidad, género y raza en la película Joker (2019) basado en el pensamiento interseccional y en las epistemologías del Sur que plantea Boaventura de Sousa Santos, entre otras aportaciones. Partiendo de unas reflexiones preliminares sobre el personaje de Arthur Fleck, se busca trascender la lectura reduccionista e individualista de las opresiones sociales a favor de un enfoque más amplio que resalta la interacción estructural de sistemas de poder como el capitalismo, el capacitismo, el racismo y el heteropatriarcado, y que puede contribuir a una crítica descolonial del conocimiento eurocéntrico, que crea procesos de subalternización e invisibilización.

The main objective of this article is to analyze the representations of capacity, gender and race in the movie Joker (2019) based on intersectional thinking and the epistemologies of the South that Boaventura de Sousa Santos proposes, among other contributions. Starting from preliminary reflections on the character of Arthur Fleck, we seek to transcend the reductionist and individualistic reading of social oppressions in favour of a broader approach that highlights the structural interaction of power systems such as capitalism, ableism, racism and the heteropatriarchy, and that can contribute to a decolonial critique of Eurocentric knowledge, which creates processes of subalternisation and invisibilisation.
