Turismo desportivo e território. O caso particular dos centros de alto rendimento

Abstract

Este relatório tem o objetivo de concluir a minha formação no mestrado de Turismo, Territórios ePatrimónio da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Coimbra no qual, durante a minha formação,ao longo de 3 meses, tive oportunidade de realizar um estágio curricular no Turismo Centro dePortugal, no Núcleo de Estruturação, Planeamento e Promoção.O tema principal deste relatório é o turismo desportivo. Este setor tem registado um elevadocrescimento nos últimos anos e tem adquirido cada vez mais importância na sociedade atual. Paraalém dos grandes eventos que movimentam milhares de pessoas e dinamizam as economias locais dosterritórios que os recebem, o turismo desportivo pode contribuir para a transmissão de uma imagempositiva do território, tanto a nível nacional como internacional. Outras vantagens são o legado queestes eventos deixam nos espaços geográficos, com estádios, pavilhões e infraestruturas de apoio quese tornam em equipamentos de elevada qualidade para usufruto da população local, contribuindopara o desenvolvimento dos países.O objeto prático deste relatório foca-se nos Centros de Alto Rendimento (CAR’s) portugueses. Nopaís existem 14 infraestruturas deste género. Estas são utilizadas por atletas de diversas modalidades,onde podem aprimorar as suas habilidades e, consequentemente, terem melhores prestaçõesdesportivas e trazer mais prestígio para o país. Muitos destes CAR’s, são também utilizados pelascomunidades para fins lúdicos, aumentando assim a qualidade de vida e bem-estar nos territóriosonde se inserem. Estes espaços têm a particularidade de primarem por uma localização geográficafora dos grandes centros urbanos. Por isso, podem contribuir para aumentar a coesão territorial dopaís, dinamizar regiões mais desfavorecidas e criar emprego qualificado nestes locais. A vocaçãoprincipal destas infraestruturas é promover um ambiente profissional ao redor nestes espaços, ondeo atleta se pode concentrar no desenvolvimento das suas aptidões, tendo as melhores condições aoseu dispor.

This report aims to complete my training in the Masters in Tourism, Territories and Heritage at theFaculty of Arts of the University of Coimbra, where during my training, I had the opportunity toundertake a curricular internship at Turismo Centro de Portugal over 3 months in the Structuring,Planning and Promotion Center.The main theme of this dissertation is sports tourism. This has been a sector that has registered ahigh growth in recent years and that has acquired more and more importance in today's society. Inaddition to the major events that move thousands of people and revitalize the local economies of theterritories that receive them, sports tourism contributes to the transmission of a positive image of theplaces, both nationally and internationally. Other advantages are the legacy that these events leave inthe territories, such as stadiums, pavilions and support infrastructures that become high qualityequipment for the enjoyment of the local population, contributing largely to the development of thecountries.As the practical context of this thesis is the Portuguese High Performance Centers, there are 14infrastructures of this kind in the country. These are used by athletes of different modalities, wherethey can improve their skills and, consequently, have better sporting performances and bring moreprestige to the country. Many of these CAR’s are also used by communities for recreational purposes,thus increasing the quality of life and well-being of the territories in which they operate. These spaceshave the particularity of being geographically located outside large urban centers, with a view toincreasing the territorial cohesion of the country, boosting the most disadvantaged regions andcreating qualified employment in these places. Other objectives are to promote a professionalenvironment around these spaces, where the athlete can concentrate on developing their skills, havingthe best conditions at their disposal.
