Impacto da Pandemia Covid-19 no desenvolvimento de sintomatologia de stress pós-traumático.

Abstract

A presente dissertação tem como objetivo avaliar a relação entre um acontecimento traumático, neste caso específico à pandemia Covid-19, e a sintomatologia da perturbação de stress pós-traumático (PSPT). Para além disto tentamos entender, considerando o contexto pandémico, que fatores contribuem para o desenvolvimento dos sintomas associados a esses fenómenos. Método: O estudo incluiu 361 sujeitos, 67 homens e 294 mulheres, com idades compreendidas entre os 18 e 66 anos (M=24; DP=8.72). Os instrumentos administrados incluem: Questionário Sociodemográfico; The Impact of Event Scale – Revised (IES-R);Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Checklist for DSM-5 (PCL‐5);Fear of COVID-19 Scale (FCV-19S);Escala de Resiliência para Adultos (ERA);Escala de Vinculação para Adultos (EVA). Resultados: Os resultados evidenciam uma relação entre o medo à covid-19 e o desenvolvimento de sintomas de stress pós-traumático. Esta relação não parece, contudo, ser explicada pelo facto de os indivíduos pertencerem ou não ao grupo de risco, visto que essa variável teve impacto no que concerne ao desenvolvimento de medo à covid-19, mas não no desenvolvimento de sintomas de de stress pós-traumático . Por outro lado, verifica-se também que a vinculação ansiosa é um fator preditivo de desenvolvimento de sintomas de stress pós-traumático. Conclusão: O medo da COVID-19 é um novo tipo de Stress pós-traumático com efeitos na saúde mental. É necessária a promoção da saúde mental e bem-estar, bem como a realização de ações preventivas da PSPT, decorrentes da pandemia associada a este coronavírus.

This dissertation aims to evaluate the relationship between a traumatic event, in this case specific to the Covid-19 pandemic, and the symptomatology of posttraumatic stress disorder (PSPT). In addition, we try to understand, considering the phemic context, what factors contribute to the development of symptoms associated with these phenomena. Method: The study included 361 subjects, 67 men and 294 women, aged between 18 and 66 years (M=24; SS=8.72). The instruments administered include: Sociodemographic Questionnaire; The Impact of Event Scale - Revised (IES-R); Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Checklist for DSM-5 (PCL‐5); Fear of COVID-19 Scale (FCV-19S); Resilience Scale for Adults (ERA); Adult Linking Scale (EVA). Results: The results show a relationship between fear at covid-19 and the development of symptoms of posttraumatic stress. However, this relationship does not seem to be explained by whether or not individuals belong to the risk group, since this variable had an impact on the development of fear at covid-19, but not on the development of symptoms of posttraumatic stress. On the other hand, it is also verified that anxiety binding is a predictive factor for the development of symptoms of posttraumatic stress. Conclusion: The fear of COVID-19 is a new type of post-traumatic stress with effects on mental health. It is necessary to promote mental health and well-being, as well as to carry out preventive actions of PSPT, resulting from the pandemic associated with this coronavirus.
