Mulheres, nação e lutas no cinema anti/pós-colonial da Guiné-Bissau

Abstract

Este artigo analisa entrosamentos entre representações de mulheres e das suas lutas e representações da nação no imaginário social e na sua expressão cinematográfica na Guiné-Bissau. Fá-lo através de dois filmes que, embora diferentes, estão unidos pela visão da guerra/luta de libertação como momento de construção da nação e pelo protagonismo que é dado às mulheres em ambos: Mortu Nega (1988), a ficção de Flora Gomes, e Bissau d’Isabel (2005), o documentário de Sana Na N’Hada. Problematiza a imaginação das mulheres como sustentáculos da nação, estabelecendo um diálogo entre a imaginação fora e dentro da tela e face a um sentimento partilhado de orfandade da nação.

This work analyses entanglements between representations of women and their struggles, on one hand, and the comprehension of the nation, on the other, in their social and cinematographic expressions. It is based on the analysis of Flora Gomes's Mortu Nega (1988) and Sana Na N'Hada's Bissau d’Isabel (2005), films where the liberation war/struggle is a point of departure of nation-building, starred by female protagonists. It aims to problematize the representations of women as bearers of the nation by establishing a dialogue between this imagination off and on the screen, and its relation with a shared feeling of an orphaned nation.
