Abstract:The aim of this study is to gather the contributions of specialists with experience on intervention with mandated/involuntary clients, including their perception of the viability, usefulness and pertinence of creating a guide/protocol for a therapeutic practice with these clients, in Portugal.Four participants between 16 and 22 years of clinical experience and, between 8 and 16 years old, specifically in the area of involuntary/mandated clients were interviewed for this study. We proceeded to the application of an online semi-directive interview and, afterwards, to a content analysis through the categorial analysis technique of Laurence Bardin (1977). The results indicate the need for a growing investigation and the decomplexing around the notions of this type of intervention and underline the lack of opportunities for theoretical and practical training for therapists working in this area. It is recommended that the suggestions presented should be analyzed and improved in the future, in order to create an open, flexible, extensible and replicable protocol at the national level.
