Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Functions, Second Edition: Estudo Exploratório da versão de Autorresposta

Abstract

Objective: The present investigation is an exploratory study of the Self-Report version ofthe Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Functions, Second Edition (BRIEF2). Theobjective is to explore the respective psychometric properties in a sample of the Portuguesepopulation, having proceeded to the analysis of the items, analysis of the internalconsistency, identification of the factorial structure at the level of the indexes, and analysisof the influence of demographic variables (socioeconomic level, gender and age). Method:The present study was based on a sample of 195 subjects (52.9% female) between 10 and18 years of age (M = 14.97; SD = 2,289. Results: 1) All items, except 2 or 3, presentedacceptable item-total correlation values; 2) The values of internal consistency were, almostentirely, good or very good; 3) The results of the Exploratory Factor Analysis indicated asmaller number of factors in relation to the model obtained by the authors of BRIEF2. Thisstudy's EFA suggests extracting a 2-factor model (instead of 3 factors); 4) There weremodest influences of demographic variables. Objetivo: A presente investigação é um estudo exploratório da versão de Autorresposta doBehavior Rating Inventory of Executive Functions, Second Edition (BRIEF2). O objetivoé explorar as respetivas propriedades psicométricas numa amostra da populaçãoportuguesa, tendo-se procedido à análise dos itens, análise da consistência interna,identificação da estrutura factorial ao nível dos índices, e análise da influência de variáveisdemográficas (nível socioeconómico, género e idade). Método: O presente estudo baseouse numa amostra de 195 sujeitos (52.9% feminino) entre os 10 e 18 anos de idade (M =14.97; DP = 2.289. Resultados: 1) Todos os itens, exceto 2 ou 3, apresentaram valoresaceitáveis de correlação item-total; 2) Os valores da consistência interna foram, na quasetotalidade, bons ou muito bons; 3) Os resultados da Análise Fatorial Exploratória indicaramum menor número de fatores em relação ao modelo obtido pelos autores do BRIEF2. AAFE deste estudo sugere a extração de um modelo de 2 fatores (em lugar de 3 fatores); 4)Registaram-se influências modestas das variáveis demográficas.
