Title: | Efeito de corantes nas propriedades de micelização de surfactantes iónicos | Other Titles: | Dye effects on the micellization properties of ionic surfactants | Authors: | Abreu, Gonçalo Fernandes de | Orientador: | Valente, Artur José Monteiro | Keywords: | Dodecilsulfato de sódio; Azul de Metileno; Interação; Encapsulamento; Micelas; Sodium dodecyl sulfate; Methylene blue; Interaction; Encapsulation; Micelles | Issue Date: | 14-Dec-2020 | Serial title, monograph or event: | EFEITO DE CORANTES NAS PROPRIEDADES DE MICELIZAÇÃO DE SURFACTANTES IÓNICOS | Place of publication or event: | Departamento de Química | Abstract: | Neste projeto de dissertação de Mestrado em Química, foi investigada a interação entre o surfactante aniónico dodecilsulfato de sódio (SDS) e o corante azul de metileno (MB), em meio aquoso, a diferentes temperaturas. In this Master's thesis in Chemistry project, the interaction between the anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and the methylene blue dye (MB), in aqueous medium, was investigated at different temperatures, in order to better understand the resulting micellation process. The system under study has applicational relevance given the MB's versatility, exploited in multiple fields of application. Methylene blue was the first synthetic drug, used in the treatment of malaria and tuberculosis or as a cell dye. Methylene blue has an inhibitory effect on the reproduction of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in vitro, and has shown validity in other clinical conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, photodynamic and anti-cancer therapies. Thus, it is interesting to study its transport and delivery integrated into well-studied micellar structures, as is the case with SDS. Likewise, knowing the changes in the micellar behavior of the SDS, in the presence of the MB, allows the establishment of modulation routes that may prove useful in future applications.Instrumental characterization was performed with three instrumental techniques - electrical conductivity, surface tension and UV-Vis spectroscopic measurements - varying the concentrations in solution.Evidence of dye encapsulation in surfactant micelles was identified and conditions for micelle formation in ternary solutions were established, namely trends and differentials, measured in relation to binary solutions of each of the studied reagents. For each system, the respective CMC are reported. |
