The cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are prevalent in the community, which are responsible for 31% of deaths in the world, and continue to be the biggest cause of death in Portugal. These affect the heart and/or blood vessels, and the main risk factors are sedentary lifestyle, high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus and dyslipidaemia.Portugal is the country with the highest prevalence of psychological disorders in European Union, with anxiety disorders appearing as the most frequent, corresponding to 16.5% of Portuguese population. This is a resistant treatment disorder, since the patients respond to the treatment only momentarily. There are evidences of a strong relationship between anxiety disorders and CVD. If, on the one hand, CVDs increase anxiety levels in an individual, on the other hand, anxiety worsens these cardiovascular pathologies.Since the prevalence of CVD is increasing, it is important that adherence to therapy is adequate and consistent. However, it is known that this is well below expectations. Anxiety disorders and the beliefs that patients have about drug therapy were pointed out to be the reasons for the low medication adherence. In this way, it is intended to understand which questionnaires are most suitable for the identification of this group of patients at greater risk of not adhering to therapy, in favour of better adherence. For this, a structured bibliographic search will be carried out, in different databases on the existing validated questionnaires. A statistical analysis will be carried out in order to verify its validity and consistency, in order to identify which ones are most suitable for its use in the clinical context. We hope, with this study, to contribute to a better identification of this risk group, aiming to achieve a significant improvement in adherence to therapy in the near future.
