Abstract: Introduction: Aspiring to a quality pre-graduated medical training system for the students of the 5th year of the Integrated Master's Degree in Medicine (MIM) of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra (FMUC), it would be innovative to apply a pedagogical instrument, that in a way, could quantify the learning process, guiding the trainers, on the most effective teaching methodologies. Objectives: To evaluate and reflect on the teaching process of the General and Family Medicine (MGF) Curricular Unit (UC), by assessing teaching and learning outcomes of General and Family Medicine in the academic year 2017-2018. Methods: Analysis of the pedagogical surveys and the questionnaires filled by the students at the beginning and end of each class. Analysis of the "Pedagogical and Scientific Balance" of the 1st and 2nd semester of the fifth year of the FMUC MIM, for the 2017/2018 academic year. Descriptive and inferential statistics were performed. Results: In this study, 56.7% of the questions presented statistically significant results. 78.3% of the questions presented positive growth dynamics, 21.6% of the questions presented negative growth dynamics. There was a learning improvement in 50% of the total questions, post-training. In 50% of the questions, there was no satisfactory evaluation regarding gain and learning capacity improvement. The "Pedagogical and Scientific Balance" presented 5 positive aspects of the UC and 7 suggestions for improvement. The results of the pedagogical survey on MGF UC, showed an average response rate of 45.5%, the best result being 4.4 (88%) on a scale of 1 to 5, and the lowest result of 4.0 (80% ) on a scale of 1 to 5.Conclusions: There was training and learning improvements for the students who attended these theoretical-practical classes. However, the teaching strategy will need to be refined to improve learning percentage as well as the significant gain after the training of students. All issues with negative growth dynamics should be reviewed. Results with statistical significance should increase in the next school years. Results of the "Pedagogical and Scientific Balance" showed satisfactory qualitative results and the suggestions for improvement should be the subject of reflection. Despite satisfactory quantitative results in the pedagogical surveys, a higher response rate in the next school years will be an added value, to improve the MGF UC.
