Vírus do dengue: uma ameaça crescente a nível global

Abstract

Dengue é uma doença infeciosa causada por um dos serótipos do vírus do dengue (DENV1- 4) e é transmitida aos humanos por vetores artrópodes, os mosquitos Aedes aegypti e Aedes albopictus. Nos últimos anos tornou-se uma das principais doenças infeciosas emergentes a nível mundial, sendo o vírus do dengue (DENV) considerado, atualmente, o arbovírus com o maior impacto sobre a saúde humana. Na maioria dos casos é uma doença febril auto-limitada. No entanto, tem um curso clínico imprevisível com diversas manifestações clínicas, e não existe tratamento antiviral específico nem vacina profilática. Nesta monografia pretende-se efetuar uma revisão bibliográfica da literatura existente sobre o vírus do dengue para uma melhor compreensão da infecção viral provocada pelo DENV, do seu tratamento e da patogénese do vírus , reconhecer a importância de um diagnóstico correto e dos métodos de prevenção e ainda compreender a epidemiologia deste vírus, incluindo a sua situação atual na Europa.

Dengue is an infectious disease caused by the serotypes of dengue virus (DENV1-4) and is transmitted to humans by arthopod vectors, the mosquitoes Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus. In recent years it has become one of the main emerging infectious diseases worldwide, with the dengue virus (DENV) considered, currently, the arbovirus with the greatest impact on human health. In most cases it is a self-limited febrile illness. However, it has an unpredictable clinical course with diverse clinical manifestations, and there is no specific antiviral treatment or prophylactic vaccine. This monograph is intended to carry out a literature review of existing literature on the dengue virus to a better understanding of viral infection caused by DENV, its treatment and pathogenesis of the virus, recognize the importance of a proper diagnosis and prevention methods, and yet to understand the epidemiology of the virus Denge, including its current situation in Europe.
