Colégio de São Fiel, Louriçal do Campo: Uma proposta de intervenção na ruína

Abstract

O Colégio de São Fiel localiza-se junto à localidade de Louriçal do Campo, numa região fortemente despovoada e em grave estado de abandono, cujo último incêndio, de agosto de 2017, veio intensificar. Enquanto em atividade estabeleceu-se como um dos centros educativos mais importantes do país, sendo ainda hoje um ponto de memória do passado jesuíta em Portugal. O objeto de estudo surge integrado no tema de seminário The Beautiful Past, sob orientação do Professor Doutor Luís Miguel Correia, no qual se pretende questionar o programa REVIVE, apresentando uma proposta de intervenção para o imóvel abrangido por este.O estado de ruína no qual se encontra, e que se tornou ainda mais relevante após o estudo histórico e sociocultural do complexo, é um elemento crucial para a preservação da sua memória. O incêndio que o assolou, iniciado na Serra da Gardunha, também remete para o debate atual da sociedade portuguesa nesta questão. Pretende-se com a proposta reavivar a memória do complexo e torná-lo uma mais-valia para a população local. Neste sentido, foi desenvolvido um estudo de obras teóricas e práticas, relacionadas com o tema. A proposta criada tenta conciliar as diferentes ideias obtidas deste, com as necessidades da região. O projeto final promove um programa de uso misto, que prevê tanto uma parte do complexo direcionada para o turismo como outra para atividades que estimulem a economia local. A integração da população local no dia-a-dia do complexo torna-se um dos principais objetivos.

The College of São Fiel is located near the village of Louriçal do Campo, in a highly depopulated region in a serious case of abandonment, which last wildfire, in august 2017, intensified. While being active became one of the most importante educational centres of the country, still being today a place of memory of the jesuitic past in Portugal. The study case is integrated in the seminary subject The Beautiful Past, under coordination of the Professor Doctor Luís Miguel Correia, which is aimed to question the REVIVE programme, presenting an intervention proposal for the building embraced in it.The state of ruin in which the building is found, that became more relevant after the study of the historical and sociocultural context of the building, is a crucial element for the preservation of its memory. The fire that affected it, initiated in the neighboring Gardunha mountain, also reminds us the current debate in the Portuguese society relating to this issue. The proposal is aimed to revive the memory of the complex and turning it into a benefit for the local population, integrating them in the day-to-day of the complex. In this context, it was developed a study of teorical and pratical works, related to the theme of intervention on the constructed heritage or in the ruin. The proposal tries to find the necessities of the region, promoting a mixed-use programme, predicting a part of the complex to be directed to tourism and another to activities that stimulate the local economy.
