Comentário ao argumento cinematográfico original Symposion.

Abstract

Symposion é um argumento cinematográfico original desenvolvido como trabalho de projeto final do mestrado em Estudos Artísticos da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Coimbra. O texto elaborado apresenta duas narrativas. A primeira conta a história de cinco amigos que se reúnem para um jantar, anos depois de terem terminado a faculdade. A segunda narrativa, sob a forma de flashback constrói uma história paralela que contextualiza as personagens durante esse período anterior permitindo que se observem esses cinco amigos, agora acompanhados por um outro, no decurso da última noite de faculdade, quando vão a uma festa. O argumento foi concebido com a intenção de escrever algo sem antagonista, e portanto sem uma história narrativamente complexa. Ou seja, as personagens habitam as cenas sem uma preocupação maior que as ameace. O argumento procura apresentar um diálogo que nasce dessas circunstâncias, ou da falta delas, traduzindo assim a leveza com que as personagens habitam as cenas. Este diálogo é uma peça chave do texto, e tentei explorar ao máximo o seu valor. As conversas entre as personagens são de certo modo a história em si. Adicionalmente, escrevi um comentário ao argumento, no qual faço uma reflexão pessoal sobre o processo de escrita, influências ao texto, e o produto final. Assim, de uma forma global, o trabalho de projeto corresponde ao intuito de prolongar, de um modo pragmático, a investigação realizada, ao longo do curso, sobre o cinema e o argumento cinematográfico.

Symposion is an original cinematographic script developed as a final project work of the master's degree in Artistic Studies of the Faculty of Letters of the University of Coimbra. The elaborated text presents two narratives. The first tells the story of five friends who gather for dinner, years after they finished college. The second narrative in the form of flashback builds a parallel story that contextualizes the characters during this earlier period by allowing these five friends, now accompanied by one another, to be observed during the last night of college when they go to a party. The argument was designed with the intention of writing something without antagonist, and therefore without a narratively complex story. That is, the characters inhabit the scenes without a greater concern that threatens them. The argument seeks to present a dialogue that arises from these circumstances, or the lack of them, thus translating the lightness with which the characters inhabit the scenes. This dialogue is a key part of the text, and I have tried to exploit its value to the utmost. The conversations between the characters are in a way the story itself.Additionally, I wrote a commentary on the argument, in which I make a personal reflection on the writing process, influences on the text, and the final product. Thus, in a global way, the project work corresponds with the intention of prolonging, in a pragmatic way, the investigation carried out over the course regarding cinema and the cinematographic script.
