A Zona Norte de Conímbriga: A evolução das cerâmicas locais e regionais. Resultados das Campanhas de 2013 e 2015-2016.

Abstract

O anfiteatro de Conímbriga foi descoberto durante os trabalhos luso-franceses na década de 1970, tendo sido iniciados trabalhos arqueológicos apenas na década de 1990.Este edifício público edificado nos finais do período júlio-claudiano, possivelmente em época cláudio-neroniana, com uma dimensão que ronda os 98 metros por 86 metros, e com uma capacidade para cerca de 4 mil espectadores encontra-se localizado no vale constituído pelo canhão flúvio-cárstico de Condeixa-a-Velha.Apesar de grande parte do anfiteatro estar destruído devido à sua demolição, num período anterior aos finais do século III e os inícios do século seguinte, conservam-se as entradas do edifício a Oeste e Este, correspondendo ao eixo maior do edifício.Alvo de três campanhas de escavações distintas entre 1992 e 2013, é novamente no ano de 2015 que novos trabalhos de investigação se realizam nesta área da urbe com o objectivo de compreender melhor as diacronias que este espaço sofreu ao longo dos tempos.Este relatório irá apresentar os resultados obtidos na escavação arqueológica realizada entre Novembro de 2015 e Junho de 2016 na zona do Anfiteatro, bem como o estudo das cerâmicas de fabrico local e regional obtidas na referida escavação e nos trabalhos arqueológicos desenvolvidos em 2013 na mesma zona.O relatório numa primeira parte aborda a história e geografia do sítio de Conímbriga, bem como a história do anfiteatro. Seguidamente são abordadas as estratigrafias e análise dos resultados de ambas as escavações.A segunda parte deste trabalho aborda o estudo da cerâmica comum destas duas campanhas arqueológicas, tendo uma primeira parte em conta as metodologias e as problemáticas cronológicas inerentes ao estudo da cerâmica comum em Conímbriga, sendo depois, o estudo abordado segundo os vários fabricos presentes neste sítio arqueológico.

The amphitheatre of Conimbriga was discovered during the Portuguese-French Campaigns in the 1970's, however, only in the 1990's the archaeological excavations began.This public building was built at the end of the Julius-Claudian period, possibly in the Claudian-Neronian period, with a dimension that is around 98 meters by 86 meters, and with a capacity for about 4,000 spectators, is located in the valley constituted by the canyon flúvio-karst of Condeixa-a-Velha.Although much of the amphitheater is destroyed due to its demolition, in a period before the end of the third century and the beginning of the next century, the entrances West and East are conserved and corresponding to the greater axis of the building.Target of three separate excavation campaigns between 1992 and 2013, it is in the year 2015 that new research is being carried out in this area of the city, with the aim of understanding better the diachronies that this space has suffered over time.The following report aims to exposing the results of the archaeological excavations carried out between November of 2015 and June of 2016 in the amphitheater zone, as well as the presentation of the analytical synthesis of local and regional pottery recoverd from the excavations of 2013, in the same area, and 2015/2016.The second part of this work deals with the study of the common pottery of these two archaeological campaigns, taking into account the methodologies and the chronological problems inherent to the study of the common pottery in Conimbriga. Next, the study is approached according to the various factories present in this archaeological site.
