Título: | The Great Louvre: securing the future, inventing a present to perpetuate the past [Part 2] | Autor: | Murtinho, Vítor | Data: | Nov-2018 | Editora: | cmm – Associação Portuguesa de Construção Metálica e Mista | Título da revista, periódico, livro ou evento: | Metálica International | Número: | 9 | Local de edição ou do evento: | Coimbra | Resumo: | Although very disputed the intervention that I. Pei developed for the purpose of reorganization and enlargement of the Louvre Museum, this made possible the irreproachable confirmation of this space as one of the most sought cultural destinations in the world. And if in the context of this work the most iconographic part corresponds to the famous pyramid placed at the center of the court designated Cour Napoléon, the truth is that the authentic revolution took place in the basement and inside the Louvre Palace. The collection of this museum which has some of the most charismatic and well-known works of Western art such as Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa, sculptures like the Venus of Milo or Victory of Samothrace alone would not be enough to keep alive the interest of a visit to a site that, until the Pei project, was considered a place with labyrinth characteristics, disorganized and spatially very little suited to its function. | URI: | https://hdl.handle.net/10316/84817 | ISSN: | 2183-9263 | DOI: | 10.30779/cmm_metalica_mi09_02 | Direitos: | openAccess |
