The present study aimed to verify the impact of Trust among team members in the Creation and Acquisition of knowledge, ascertain whether the Sense Making of knowledge exercises a moderating or mediating role in this relation and analyze the profiles of workers based on Trust and the effect of these profiles on knowledge Creation and Acquisition. The study sample consisted of 1791 call center employees operating in Portugal and two instruments were used, which are, Knowledge Management Team Questionnaire (KMTQ) and Team Trust Questionnaire (TTQ). For the analysis of the data we used the intercorrelations, multiple regressions and multiple hierarchical regressions, for the cases that proved to be significant, the effects of moderation and mediation of the Sense Making between TTQ and KMTQ factors and the analysis of clusters. The results suggest that Trust plays an essential role in knowledge Creation and Acquisition. This relation tends to be more important when the Sense Making is introduced as mediating variable, once as moderator this variable had an important role only in the relation between Perceived trustworthiness and external Creation and acquisition. The results obtained indicate the relevance of organizations to stimulate trust, transparency and feedback in the workplace. This can occur through multiple structured actions of employee development, like promotion of communication skills and conflict management or the implementation of reward systems that encourage cooperation, debate, innovation, and joint problem solving.
