Confiança Interpessoal e Autoconceito: Estudo da sua relação numa amostra de adolescentes do 2º e 3º ciclos

Abstract

A investigação da presente dissertação teve como objetivo o estudo da relação entre a Confiança Interpessoal e o Autoconceito durante a adolescência, atendendo aos eventuais contributos de variáveis sociodemográficas tais como o género, a idade, o ciclo escolar, o escalão da Ação Social Escolar e o número de retenções. Foi utilizada uma amostra de 215 alunos matriculados no 5º, 6º, 7º, 8º e 9º anos numa escola do distrito de Coimbra - 114 do sexo masculino e 101 do sexo feminino - e um protocolo constituído pelos seguintes instrumentos: Questionário Sociobiográfico; Escala de Crenças Generalizadas de Confiança para Adolescentes - CGA (Vale-Dias & Franco-Borges, 2014) - adaptação portuguesa da Generalized Trust Beliefs-Late Adolescents (Randall, Rotenberg, Totenhagen, Rock & Harmon, 2010); e a adaptação portuguesa (Veiga, 2006) da Piers-Harris Children’s Self-Concept Scale - PHCSCS-2 (Piers & Herzberg, 2002). Os resultados não confirmaram a esperada associação entre as crenças de Confiança Interpessoal e o Autoconceito Geral, tendo a idade e o ciclo escolar se revelado associados ao nível daqueles dois constructos. Por outro lado, o género e o escalão da Ação Social Escolar não influenciaram os níveis de Confiança Interpessoal e de Autoconceito, sendo que o número de retenções parece afetar o Autoconceito dos adolescentes da amostra. Além disso, a Confiança Interpessoal no Professor revelou-se pertinente mostrando, assim, a importância desta figura significativa no desenvolvimento e aprendizagens dos adolescentes.

The main goal of this research was the study of relationship between the Interpersonal Trust and the Self-Concept during adolescence, considering the potential contribution of sociodemographic variables such as gender, age, school cycle, social rank and the school disapprovals’ number. It was used a sample of 215 students from the 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th grades of a school in Coimbra - 114 boys and 101 girls - and a protocol consisting of the following three instruments: a Sociobiographic Questionnaire, the Portuguese version (Vale-Dias & Franco-Borges, 2014) of the Generalized Trust Beliefs-Late Adolescents (Randall, Rotenberg, Totenhagen, Rock & Harmon, 2010) - Escala de Crenças Generalizadas de Confiança para Adolescentes (CGA) and the Portuguese version (Veiga, 2006) of PHCSCS-2 - Piers-Harris Children’s Self-Concept Scale (Piers & Herzberg, 2002). The results did not confirm the expected association between Interpersonal Trust and General Self-concept’s beliefs, but the age and the school cycle have been shown to be relevant for both constructs’ levels. In contrast, gender and social rank did not affect the Interpersonal Trust and Self-concept’ levels, although school disapprovals’ number seems to affect adolescents Self-concept of the present sample. Furthermore, the Interpersonal Trust data has pointed to the teacher’ role as figure relevant on adolescents’ development and learning which underline the importance of teacher’ self-assessment, competence and training.
