Motivações e Satisfação de Voluntários

Abstract

Esta investigação tem como intuito analisar o voluntariado em diferentes contextos, na ótica do voluntário, estabelecendo como objetivos a análise das funções motivacionais dos voluntários e a satisfação dos mesmos. Visa ainda analisar as propriedades psicométricas dos instrumentos utilizados. Os dados foram recolhidos junto de uma amostra de 143 voluntários, de ambos os géneros, maioritariamente jovens (com uma idade cronológica média de 22 anos), a efetuarem o voluntariado em diferentes Instituições de voluntariado. Para o efeito, foram utilizados o Inventário de Funções do Voluntariado (IFV; Volunteer Functions Inventory), de Clary et al. (1998) e o Questionário de Satisfação com o Voluntariado (QSV), de Jiménez et al. (2009). Relativamente ao Inventário de Funções do Voluntariado verificámos que apresenta: uma consistência interna boa; em termos de validade de constructo, uma estrutura de 5 fatores próxima da estrutura original e correlações moderadas a elevadas entre os fatores. Neste inventário, os fatores com resultados mais elevados foram Valores e Carreira. No que diz respeito ao QSV, os voluntários obtiveram valores mais elevados na Satisfação com as Tarefas. Na relação entre os dois instrumentos verificámos que todas as funções do IFV estavam relacionadas de forma positiva e significativa com a Satisfação com os Motivos do voluntariado, atestando a respetiva validade concorrente.A influência de variáveis demográficas (idade, género) e de variáveis relacionadas com o voluntariado (duração do voluntariado) também foi testada, mas apenas a variável género, neste caso feminino, revelou diferenças estatisticamente significativas. Neste estudo foram comparados dois contextos de voluntariado, o de reabilitação e o hospitalar. Os nossos resultados não revelaram diferenças estatisticamente significativas relativamente às funções motivacionais.

The purpose of this research is to analyze volunteering in different contexts, from the point of view of the volunteer, establishing as objectives the analysis of the volunteers' motivational functions and their satisfaction. This research also analyses the psychometric qualities of the instruments used. Data were collected from a sample of 143 volunteers of both genders, mostly young (mean chronological age of 22 years), volunteering in different institutions. The Volunteer Functions Inventory (VFI), by Clary et al. (1998) and the Volunteers Satisfaction Index (VSI), by Jiménez et al. (2009) were used. Regarding the VFI, it was verified that: it has good internal consistency; in terms of construct validity, a 5 factor structure was observed, close to the original structure, as well as moderate or large correlations between the factors. In this inventory, the factors with the highest results were Values and Career. With regard to the VSI, volunteers get higher scores on Task Satisfaction. Regarding the relationship between the two instruments, we verified that all IFV functions were positively and significantly related to Satisfaction with Volunteer Motivations, thus showing their respective convergent validity.The influence of demographic variables (age, gender) and variables related to volunteering (duration) were also tested, but only the gender variable, in this case female, it revealed statistically significant differences.In this study, two volunteer contexts were compared: rehabilitation and hospital. Our results did not reveal statistically significant differences regarding motivational functions.
