Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) is a hereditary syndrome induced by the mutation of a tumor suppressor gene, therefore associated with a higher predisposition to neoplasia. Tu-mors of the ampulla of Vater, rare in the general population, are common in these patients, including neuroendocrine tumors (TNE) and gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST), which have essentially surgical therapy. We performed a selection of recent literature, with a review of clinical reports availa-ble and described a case of a patient with NF1, submitted to cephalic pancreaticoduodenec-tomy after identification of a periampular neoplasm, diagnosed postoperatively as two TNE and three GIST. This review of the literature, illustrated by the clinical case, allowed summarization of the current knowledge about periampullary tumors, especially TNE, as well as helped to de-fine the best approach for those, in patients with NF1.
