If in a simple and quick way we could give a shape to the sound, how would we represent it? The search for the answer to this question is the key and the motive of this dissertation. We live surrounded by countless sound sources. If we had the opportunity to close our eyes and listen to “the world,” how could we imagine everything around us?In order to reach the stated objective, in the first stage, it was necessary to study some theoretical concepts, in order to understand how to approach the subject. We have introduced a small study of the image to see how it can communicate. Then we studied some important parameters in the sound analysis. Finishing this stage, we understand the importance of the relationship between image and sound. In the second stage of the project some artefacts were produced, answering the initial question. These had, as key references, some artists who marked the history of computational art and visual music. After this, new paradigms and visualizations were created and explored, promoting creativity in the concepts applied and in the generated compositions. To sum up, this dissertation focuses on answering this question: If in any simple way, we wanted an image to represent the sound, how would it be? The attempt to answer implies that each person can later "read the image", understanding the sound characteristics that the representation tries to transmit. This dissertation brought together several areas of interest such as design, art, computing and music.
