Curta-metragem de animação com a ilustradora Ana Biscaia

Abstract

Esta dissertação engloba o percurso no Mestrado de Design e Multimédia e apresenta como proposta a criação de uma curta-metragem de animação 2D, com a colaboração da ilustradora Ana Biscaia. As ilustrações, que se apresentam dentro do livro-CD da banda, foram fornecidas pela ilustradora para realizar a animação.O termo “animação” provém do latim animare (dar vida) e veio, no século XX, a ser utilizado para descrever a ilusão do movimento, através da rápida sucessão de imagens. Na animação, é possível fazer-se tudo, desde o exagero, a sátira, o humor e a fantasia. A animação dá vida aos objetos inanimados, quer se trate de objetos reais, desenhos, fotografias, pinturas ou imagens digitais.Este projeto iniciou com uma extensa pesquisa, de modo a definir o planeamento e compreender os pontos importantes da animação 2D, de modo a poder aplicá-los. Através da técnica motion graphics, o vídeo foi desenvolvido como um videoclip para a música “Sarapateado”, da banda Macadame. Esta técnica consiste em criar animações a partir de elementos gráficos 2D/3D (formas geométricas, ícones, textos ou ilustrações). Para tal, começou-se por realizar um storyboard, que é um guia visual que narra as principais cenas de uma animação. De seguida, foi feita a edição das ilustrações, com a técnica de recorte, através do software Adobe Photoshop. Por fim, realizou-se a montagem e animação das ilustrações, fundos e lettering, através do software Adobe After Effects.Assim, pretendeu-se que tanto a banda como a ilustradora tivessem um papel fundamental no desenvolvimento deste projeto, através do seu acompanhamento e respetivas sugestões. Deste modo, o conceito do projeto será baseado na música da banda e nas ilustrações da ilustradora.Aliado a todos os conhecimentos adquiridos, o estágio curricular vem pôr em prática a capacidade de responsabilidade, empenho, aprendizagem e estrutura laboral, encerrando, assim, este percurso académico.

The following thesis contains the route through the Design & Multimedia Master’s degree and features the creation of a shortfilm 2D-animated, with the collaboration of illustration artist Ana Biscaia. The illustrations, shown in the book-CD of the band, were provided by the illustration artist to create the animation.The term “animation” comes from the latin word animare (to give life) and came, in the twentieth century, to be used to describe the illusion of movement, through the rapid succession of images. In animation, it is possible to create everything, from exaggeration, satire, humor and fantasy. Animation gives life to inanimate objects, whether it be real objects, drawings, photographs, paintings or digital images.This project started with an extensive research, in order to define the planning and understanding the important points of the 2D animation, in order to be able to apply them. Through the use of the motion graphics technic, the video was created as a music video for the song “Sarapateado” by Macadame. This technique consists of creating animations from 2D/3D graphic elements (geometric shapes, icons, texts or illustrations). In order to do so, it was necessary to make a storyboard, which is a visual guide that narrates the main scenes of an animation. Afterwards, the illustrations were edited with the clipping technique using the software Adobe Photoshop. Finally, the assembly and animation of the illustrations, backgrounds and lettering were accomplished through the software Adobe After Effects.Thus, it was intended that both the band and the illustrator had a fundamental role in the development of this project, through their accompaniment and suggestions. This way, the concept of the project will be based on the band’s music and the illustrations of the illustrator.Combined with all the knowledge aquired, the curricular internship will put into practice the capacity for responsibility, commitment, learning and work structure, thus closing this academic path.
