A Deslegitimação das Queixas do Doente com Fibromialgia

Abstract

A Fibromialgia é uma doença crónica, caracterizada por dor difusa, fadiga, perturbações emocionais e do sono e, por estas razões, tem grande impacto na qualidade de vida do doente. Apesar dos diversos estudos já realizados acerca desta patologia, ainda não está determinado, de uma forma objetiva, a origem da dor. Por esta razão, as queixas apresentadas pelo doente na consulta são, na maior parte das vezes, deslegitimadas e fazem com que este, busque, incessantemente, uma resposta diagnóstica e um fim terapêutico. O principal objetivo do presente estudo foi o de proceder a uma revisão sobre o impacto da doença no dia-a-dia do doente, tendo em conta a sua vida pessoal, social e profissional, por um lado; o sentimento de deslegitimação subjacente, por outro; e, finalmente, abordar a questão controversa da incapacidade. Para a elaboração do trabalho, foram utilizados artigos científicos e de revisão, relativos à temática, pesquisados em bases de dados, como a Medline, tendo sido, posteriormente, selecionados aqueles que se consideraram enquadrar no âmbito da dissertação. Após o estudo, leitura e investigação da temática abordada no presente trabalho, conclui-se que os efeitos da Fibromialgia se fazem sentir num campo muito mais vasto do que, apenas, o do bem-estar físico do doente. Isto é, a doença afeta também a vida pessoal, social e profissional do mesmo. Como agravante desta situação, é de realçar a falta de apoio, sentida pelo doente, não por quem o rodeia, como também por parte do Sistema de Saúde, o que, por sua vez, constitui mais um aspeto negativo no seu quadro patológico. Posto isto, considerar que um indivíduo com esta patologia está, ou não, incapacitado para executar a sua atividade profissional é, ainda hoje, uma decisão difícil e controversa. Em suma, o carácter invisível da Fibromialgia pode pôr em causa o papel de doente, a que uma pessoa com esta patologia tem direito.

Fibromyalgia is a chronic disease characteridez by diffuse pain, fatigue, emotional and sleep disorders and, for these reasons, it has a great impact on the patient’s quality of life. Despite the many studies already done about this pathology, the origin of the pain has not yet been determined in an objective way. For this reason, the patient’s complaints are, for the most part, deslegitimized and lead him to constantly seek for a diagnosis and a therapeutic answer. The main goal of the present study was to make a review of the disease’s impact on the patient’s daily life, taking into account his personal, social and professional life, on one hand; the feelling of deslegitimation, on the other hand; and, finnaly, to approach the controversial issue of disability. For the elaboration of this work, scientific articles and reviews related to the subject were searched, in databases, being subsequently selected those that were considered to fit within the scope of the dissertation. After the study, reading and researching the topic addressed in the present study, it is concluded that the effects of Fibromyalgia are felt in a much wider field than only the physical well-being of the patient. The disease also affects the personal, social and professional life of the patient. As an aggravating factor in this situation, the lack of support, felt by the patient, not only by those who surround him, but also by the Health System constitutes a negative aspect in its clinical condition. Therefore, considering whether a person with this pathology is incapacitated, or not, to perform his or her professional activity is still a difficult and controversial decision. In short, the invisible nature of Fibromyalgia ends up undermining the role of patient, to which a person with this pathology is entitled.
