Cogumelos em fitoterapia : eficácia e segurança

Abstract

As primeiras evidências das propriedades medicinais dos cogumelos foram reconhecidas na Ásia. Atualmente, verifica-se um interesse crescente nesta área por parte dos países Ocidentais. A prova disso são os avanços importantes que se têm feito notar nas investigações científicas realizadas por equipas qualificadas multidisciplinares, nas quais o papel do farmacêutico é também importante. Os cogumelos medicinais são uma fonte de compostos bioativos benéficos para a saúde, associados a atividades biológicas como a atividade antitumoral, imunomodeladora, neuroprotetora, cardioprotetora, antiviral, anti-inflamatória, antioxidante, hepatoprotetora, antidiabética. Por isso, são um potencial alvo para o desenvolvimento de novas terapêuticas, como por exemplo, a prevenção e tratamento de patologias como o cancro, de modo a permitir uma melhoria na qualidade de vida dos doentes. Esta monografia tem como objetivo abordar alguns cogumelos com propriedades medicinais, tais como, Coriolus versicolor, Ganoderma lucidum, Grifola frondosa, Inonotus obliquus e Hericium erinaceus, por serem dos mais usados e com mais estudos clínicos. Dá-se enfase aos compostos bioativos e à atividade que lhes está associada, em particular, a atividade antitumoral e imunomodeladora referindo o seu modo de ação, aspetos de eficácia e segurança, tendo em conta estudos realizados in vitro e in vivo.

The primary evidences of medicinal properties in mushrooms were firstly acknowledged in Asia. Nowadays, it is undeniable the progressive interest of Western countries regarding this subject. Subsequently, several major developments in the related research have been achieved by qualified and multidisciplinary teams, in which the pharmaceutical display a valuable role. Medicinal mushrooms are a source of healthy bioactive compounds, linked to biological activities such as the antitumor, immunomodulating, neuroprotective, cardioprotective, antiviral, antiinflammatory, antioxidant, hepatoprotective and antidiabetical. As we can see, they represent a potential target for the development of new therapeutics, especially associated with the prevention and treatment of pathologies like cancer, in order to increase the quality of life of the sick. The main focus of the present monography is to analyse some mushrooms with medicinal properties, such as, Coriolus versicolor, Ganoderma lucidum, Grifola frondosa, Inonotus obliquus and Hericium erinaceus, considering these are the most used and clinically tested. It will be emphasized the bioactive compounds and its activity, particularly the antitumor and the immunomodulating, mentioning the respective course of action and the efectiveness and security aspects, always keeping in mind studies conducted in vitro and in vivo.
