Title: | De adulto emergente a adulto de meia-idade: estudo das relações entre Inteligência Emocional, Bem-Estar Subjetivo, Confiança Interpessoal e Saúde Mental | Authors: | Mendes, Teresa de Carvalho Neves Figueiredo | Orientador: | Dias, Maria da Luz Bernardes Rodrigues Vale | Keywords: | Ciclo Vital do Desenvolvimento; Inteligência emocional; Bem-estar subjetivo; Confiança interpessoal; Saúde mental | Issue Date: | 2016 | Serial title, monograph or event: | De adulto emergente a adulto de meia-idade: estudo das relações entre Inteligência Emocional, Bem-Estar Subjetivo, Confiança Interpessoal e Saúde Mental | Place of publication or event: | Coimbra | Abstract: | O Ciclo Vital do Desenvolvimento é definido como um processo
255 sujeitos (172 do sexo feminino e 83 do sexo masculino) – distribuídos
Adults (RSTSA); Escalas de Ansiedade, Depressão e Stress (EADS-21);
Estar Subjetivo e a Saúde Mental, a Confiança Interpessoal e a Saúde
The Development Life Cycle is defined by as a continuous, multidimensional and multidirectional process of changes, composed of genetic-biological and sociocultural influences, normative and non-normative, marked by gains and losses that compete among themselves, and interactivity between the individual and the culture. Assuming the complexity inherent in human development, and in a positive paradigm that focuses on promoting the well-being and mental health, this study aims to analyze the role of constructs, whose scientific interest has been shown in the present. Having said this, the goals of this research are to understand if there are relations between the constructs of Emotional Intelligence, Subjective Well-Being, Interpersonal Trust and Mental Health in adulthood, clarifying the potential predictor effect of Emotional Intelligence on the Subjective Well-Being, Interpersonal Trust and Mental Health or even Mental Health on the Emotional Intelligence, Subjective Well-Being and Interpersonal Trust. Simultaneously, also verify the differences of these in terms of the different age ranges: Adult Emergent, Young Adult and Adult Middle Age, and gender. The instruments used for the sample of 255 subjects (172 female and 83 male) - distributed equally into three age groups of 85 subjects each - were: sociodemographic questionnaire; Rotenberg's Specific Trust Scale Adults (RSTSA); Anxiety, Depression and Stress Scales (EADS-21); Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS); Trait Meta-Mood Scale (TMMS - 24) and Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS). The results indicated significant associations between Subjective Well-Being and Mental Health, Interpersonal Trust and Mental Health, and Interpersonal Trust and the cognitive dimension of Subjective Well-Being (Satisfaction with Life). It was also found that the Anxiety, Depression and Stress Scale (EADS) predict that 53% of the Negative Affect and Mental Health is explained by all factors of Emotional Intelligence. The latter predicts 17% of Satisfaction with Life and 14% of Positive Affect. Beside this, was also observed that there are differences in terms of age in Negative Affect and Interpersonal Trust, and the Emerging Adults and Young Adults, respectively, have higher levels of these dimensions, noting a decrease on average when moving to the next age group. Differences in gender highlighted the variables: Attention to emotions, Interpersonal Trust and Anxiety, and in all of them, female gender had the higher averages. |
