A violência e o poder da(s) palavra(s): A religião cristã e as mulheres

Abstract

Falar‑se‑á aqui da violência da(s) palavra(s). Das formas como as palavras foram e são utilizadas para legitimar a violência patriarcal sobre as mulheres. Falar‑se‑á, em concreto, da forma como as palavras da Bíblia foram e são utilizadas para subalternizar as mulheres. Portanto, falaremos de discursos de poder. Mas também da possibilidade de outros discursos, de formas de empowerment “subalternas”, a partir dos “sem‑poder”. Neste segundo aspecto, dar‑se‑á particularmente relevância ao pensamento e obra da teóloga feminista Elisabeth Schüssler Fiorenza.

This text discusses the violence of the word/words and the ways in which words have been, and are, used to legitimise patriarchal violence against women. Specifically, it explores the way in which the words of the Bible have been, and are, used to subordinate women. It therefore discusses the discourses of power, but also the possibility of other discourses, forms of “subaltern” empowerment, arising from the “powerless”. With regard to the latter aspect, specific emphasis is given to the thought and work of the feminist theologian Elisabeth Schüssler Fiorenza.

Nous aborderons ici la violence de la (des) parole (s). Des diverses façons dont les paroles furent et sont utilisées pour légitimer la violence patriarcale sur les femmes. Nous parlerons, concrètement, de la façon dont les paroles de la Bible sont utilisées pout subalterniser les femmes. Donc, nous parlerons de discours de pouvoir. Mais aussi de la possibilité d’autres discours, de formes d’empowerment “subalternes”, à partir des “sans-pouvoir”. Pour ce qui est de ce deuxième aspect, nous attacherons une importance toute particulière à l’œuvre de la théologienne féministe Elisabeth Schüssler Fiorenza.
