Representações sociais da violência entre parceiros íntimos numa amostra de estudantes de enfermagem

Abstract

O presente estudo tem como primordial finalidade investigar as percepções e crenças subjacentes à violência entre parceiros íntimos (VPI), numa amostra de estudantes universitários com área de formação académica em Enfermagem. Foi administrado aos 198 participantes um protocolo de investigação constituído por um Questionário Sociodemográfico e de Dados Complementares, pela Escala de Táticas de Conflito Revisadas (The Revised Conflict Tactics Scales – CTS-2) de Murray Straus (1996), o Questionário de Violência Conjugal – Histórias (QRVC-HIS) e o Questionário de Violência Conjugal – Causas, Manutenção e Resolução (QVC-CMR), ambos construídos por Alarcão, Alberto, Correia e Camelo (2007). Os resultados obtidos neste estudo evidenciam um baixo grau de legitimação da violência nas relações íntimas, tanto ao nível da subamostra dos indivíduos do sexo feminino, como do masculino. As agressões mais perpetradas e vitimadas pelos sujeitos da amostra foram as agressões psicológicas e as físicas ligeiras. A análise da variável formação (antes ou durante o curso superior) mostrou não existirem diferenças significativas nas representações sociais da VPI entre os indivíduos que frequentaram e os que nunca frequentaram formações acerca desta problemática. Levantamos a questão da importância de refletir (e eventualmente rever) sobre a formação em VPI a que os alunos de enfermagem têm acesso e, nalguns casos, frequentam. Em futuras investigações seria interessante reunir amostras maiores e mais heterogéneas, com vista a recolherem-se mais dados acerca das crenças e comportamentos associados à VPI em populações jovens, de forma a fomentar uma maior consciencialização e prevenção deste fenómeno.

The present study main purpose is to investigate the perceptions and beliefs underlying intimate partner violence (IPV), among a sample of nursing students. In order to do so, an investigation protocol was administered to the 198 participants, which included a Sociodemographic Questionnaire, Murray Straus’ (1996) Revised Conflict Tactics Scales (CTS- 2), the Conjugal Violence Questionnaire – Stories (QRVC-HIS) and the Conjugal Violence Questionnaire – Causes, Maintenance and Resolution (QVC-CMR), both developed by Alarcão, Alberto, Correia and Camelo (2007). The results obtained in this study show a low degree of legitimization of violence in intimate relationships, from both male and female subsamples. The most perpetrated and victimized agressions reported by the sample subjects were the psychological and physical agressions. The education variable analyses (before and during their academic degree) showed no significant differences between the social representations of individuals who did and did not attended any kind of education regarding this issue. We raise an issue regarding the importance of a reflection (and eventually review) conserning the education in IPV that nursing students have acess to and, in some cases, do attempt. In future investigations it would be interesting to gather a larger and more heterogene sample of students, in order to find more data concerning the beliefs and behaviors associated to IPV, and also to raise awareness and preventive measures towards this phenomenon.
