Carcinoma diferenciado da tiroide : artigo de revisão e apresentação de casos clinicos

Abstract

O Carcinoma Diferenciado da Tiroide (CDT) é a neoplasia endócrina mais frequente (95%). De todos os carcinomas, o da tiroide é o que tem aumentado mais de incidência: cerca de 3-4% ao ano, sendo o sexto tumor maligno mais diagnosticado na mulher. O objetivo deste artigo é criar uma fonte de orientação e de suporte bibliográfico, atualizado, sobre o manejo e abordagem ao CDT. Pretende ainda, alertar a comunidade médica das corretas condutas a tomar face a uma suspeita de CDT, ou de um nódulo na tiroide, em linha de conta com as limitações das evidências e dos estudos. Pretendeu-se elaborar um artigo de revisão, com todos os aspetos relacionados com o CDT, incluindo história, epidemiologia, etiologia, histologia, biologia molecular, apresentação clínica, diagnóstico, diagnóstico diferencial, tratamento, prognóstico, monitorização a longo prazo e novas terapias. Finalmente o trabalho foi complementado com a apresentação de casos clínicos operados no Serviço de Cirurgia B dos CHUC.

The differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) is the most common endocrine cancer (95%). Amongst all of the thyroid cancers this is the one that has had the biggest incidence increase: about 3-4% per year. Furthermore, it is the sixth most commonly diagnosed malignancy in women. The main goal of this article was to update and create a trustworthy guide, focused on the management and approach of the differentiated thyroid cancer. On the other hand it was also a concern to alert the medical community to the correct behavior to adopt when faced with a suspect of CDT or a lump in the Thyroid, always taking into account the limitations of the evidence and the studies available. The intention was to create a review article, with all aspects of the differentiated thyroid cancer, including history, epidemiology, etiology, histology, molecular biology, clinical presentation, diagnosis, differential diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, long-term monitoring and new treatment. To sum it all, this review article was completed with the presentation of clinical cases operated in the Surgery Department B of the CHUC
