This study aims to assess the potential of scientific summary in the area of Health Sciences giving emphasis to the role of its structure as a key element in meeting the content of the documents of the representative functions in two different contexts: Open Access (OA) and Toll Access (TA). The methodology used was qualitative, divided into two phases, literature review, and a case study focused on the comparative analysis of the abstracts of two scientific journals of Life Sciences published in different contexts: in PLoS One (OA) and Nature (TA).The results point to the 1 structural compatibility between the abstracts analyzed in two journals, observing, however, that the abstracts of Nature have no structure, as opposed to a significant percentage of those in PLoS One. PLoS One abstracts are longer than those of Nature and the number of articles in the former is superior to the latter. Finally, it is observed that the reference section of abstracts of PLoS One includes a larger number of elements than that of Nature. We conclude by recognizing the role of the abstract as an excellent resource in disclosure, update, and selection of scientific literature, regardless of the access contexts in which it occurs. It is possible through it determine the relevance of the content of the articles and also recognize their advantage in the context of both toll access, while eventual replacement of the document, and open access, as filter in the selection of relevant articles. | URI: | https://hdl.handle.net/10316/29972 | ISBN: | 978-84-608-3330-7 | DOI: | 10.13140/RG.2.1.3056.2641 | Direitos: | openAccess |
