Keywords: | Funcionamento familiar; Qualidade de vida familiar | Issue Date: | 2014 | Serial title, monograph or event: | Estudo comparativo transcultural entre Portugal e Angola sobre instrumentos de medida do funcionamento e qualidade de vida da família | Place of publication or event: | Coimbra | Abstract: | O presente estudo tem como principal objetivo analisar
fator 3 - Dificuldades familiares (α = .77).
fator 1 - Recursos familiares (α = .69) e factor 2 e 3 – Comunicação e
as subamostras (r = -.50, p < .05; r = - 35, p < .05, respetivamente),
The present study aims at analysing the behaviour of two instruments, the SCORE-15 and the QOL in different cultures, most specifically, Portuguese and Angolan (focusing on the Huila province). For such we used a non-clinical sample of 599 subjects aged 18-70 years old, being 296 of Portuguese nationality and 303 of Angolan nationality. The subsamples differ in distribution by area of residence, education level and socioeconomic status. Regarding the psychometric characteristics of the instruments, were conducted studies of validity (exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, convergent validity) and reliability (internal consistency). The original structure of the 3 factors of SCORE-15 was adequate for the Portuguese subsample - factor 1 - Family Resources (α = .86), factor 2 - Communication within the family (α = .80), and factor 3 - Family Difficulties (α = .77). In the Angolan subsample, the most appropriate structure is bifactorial, in which the first factor is equal to the original structure and the items of factors 2 and 3 are grouped on the same factor - Factor 1 - Family Resources (α = .69) and factors 2 and 3 - Communication and Difficulties within the family (α = .81). Regarding QOL, the structure of the reduced version for the Portuguese population has proved successful for the Portuguese subsample, but not for the Angolan subsample. These measuring instruments are associated in a moderate and satisfactory way in the negative direction in both the subsamples (r = - .50, p < .05, r = - 35, p < .05, respectively), confirming thus its convergent validity and presenting reasonable and good levels of reliability. Marital status and socioeconomic status influence the responses of the SCORE-15 in the Portuguese subsample and socioeconomic status in the Angolan subsample. Regarding QOL, the differences focused on education and socioeconomic levels in the Portuguese subsample, and on marital status in the Angolan. The results point to the need of a deep review in the QOL, in order to make it suitable to the Angolan population. |
