O impacto da dor crónica no sistema familiar: a perspetiva de profissionais de enfermagem

Abstract

A dor crónica é considerada uma doença que tem um enorme impacto na qualidade de vida do doente e da família. O presente estudo misto (qualitativo/quantitativo) visou descrever o impacto da dor crónica no sistema familiar, a partir da visão de profissionais de enfermagem. Para atingir este objetivo foram realizados três grupos focais com um total de onze enfermeiros. A análise de conteúdo dos dados revelou duas árvores categoriais distintas: a) uma árvore relativa à perspetiva de enfermeiros que trabalham numa unidade de dor especializada composta por seis dimensões (Subtipologia, Definição, Impacto, Prevenção da Dor, Validação do MFSD e Dor Aguda), e b) uma árvore relativa à perspetiva de enfermeiros que trabalham em contexto de cuidados primários composta por sete dimensões (Definição, Sistema de Saúde, Diversidade das Dores, Impacto, Tratamento, População-Alvo e Validação do MFSD). Cada uma destas dimensões é composta por várias subdimensões, revelando os seus conteúdos, consistência e coerência de acordo com aquilo que tem vindo ser descrito pela literatura: o impacto da dor crónica na família revela perdas a nível financeiro e social, obrigando a família a adotar novos papéis e funções no sentido de dar uma resposta adequada às exigências impostas pela dor crónica. Para além de impulsionar novos estudos e conclusões, esta investigação contribui para auxiliar os profissionais de enfermagem que trabalham junto de famílias que lidam com a dor crónica.

Chronic pain is considered to be a disease with a great impact in the quality of life of patient and family. The present mixed study (qualitative/quantitative) aimed to describe the impact of chronic pain in family system, from the point of view of nurses. In order to achieve this goal, three focal groups with a total of eleven nurses were considered. The content analysis of the data showed two distinct category trees: a) a tree related to the perspective of the nurses that work in a specialized pain unit composed of six dimensions (Subtipology, Definition, Impact, Pain Prevention, Validation of the MFSD and Acute Pain), and b) a tree related to the perspective of the nurses that work in the context of primary care, composed of seven dimensions (Definition, Health System, Pain Diversity, Impact, Treatment, Target Population and Validation of the MFSD). Each one of these dimensions consists of sub dimensions reveling its contents, consistency and coherence according to those described by the literature: the impact of the chronic pain in the family revels financial and social loses and obliges the family to adopt new roles and functions capable of giving an adequate answer to the demands imposed by chronic pain. In addition to promoting new studies and conclusions, this investigation contributes to help the nurses that work with families dealing with chronic pain.
