Memórias da minha terra, Amor: uma aldeia, um património

Abstract

The legend based upon the passions of D. Dinis makes the village of Amor (Love), located near the city of Leiria, known and gives it its name. Nonetheless, the place is more than just a legend. It possesses edified, (i)material and natural heritage that makes it different from all other surrounding areas. The histories, the experiences, the ways of life and the economical conditions have conditioned the inhabitants and their behaviour and lifestyle. Therefore, it is intended that this sample, of the several types of heritage existing at Amor, be the first step in leading to its own inhabitants’ consciousness on the richness their land has to offer and the need for its preservation. The aim is that they feel it as their own and not simply a place to spend the night in. The history of the creation of this place as a civil parish and the attempts in explaining the origin of its name shall constitute the introductory themes. Concerning the edified heritage, the mother church, windmills, drinking fountains, washers and habitations shall deserve special mention. In terms of the (i)material heritage, we shall lean over to the oral traditions, social customs and habits, religious and profane traditions, arts and traditional works. The Campos do Lis and the Altos de S. Paulo shall be worthy of mention as natural heritage. These are the areas that remain most alive in the memories of those who still have a lot to tell. Long conversations, histories, recollections, memories and old photos were the motto for collecting information… We have cherished the creation of «roots» – for only thus shall the heritage be valued in their transmission to the coming generations – in an identity not to be missed

A aldeia de Amor, localizada junto à cidade de Leiria, conhece-se pela lenda que lhe atribui o nome com base nos amores de D. Dinis. No entanto, o lugar é mais do que uma lenda. Possui património edificado, (i)material e natural que o tornam diferente de todos os outros envolventes. As histórias, as experiências, o modo de vida e as condições económicas condicionaram os habitantes e o seu modo de estar e de viver. Assim, pretende-se que esta mostra dos diferentes tipos de património existentes em Amor seja o primeiro passo para a tomada de consciência dos próprios habitantes acerca da riqueza que tem a sua terra e da necessidade da sua preservação. Pretende-se que a sintam como sua e que dela não façam apenas dormitório. A história da criação do lugar enquanto freguesia e as tentativas de explicação a propósito da origem do topónimo serão os temas introdutórios. A nível do património edificado, merecerão destaque a igreja matriz, os moinhos, as fontes, os lavadouros e as habitações. Ao nível do património (i)material, vamos debruçar-nos sobre as tradições orais, os usos e os costumes sociais, as tradições religiosas e profanas, as artes e os ofícios tradicionais. Os Campos do Lis e os Altos de S. Paulo merecerão o realce como património natural. Estas as áreas mais vivas na lembrança dos que ainda têm muito para contar. Longas conversas, histórias, recordações, memórias e fotografias antigas foram mote para recolha de informações… Acarinhámos a criação de «raízes» – que só assim o património será valorizado.
