Avaliação de eficiência de clínicas dentárias com DEA: Estudo de caso da Smile Up

Abstract

Neste trabalho intitulado “Avaliação de eficiência de clínicas dentárias com DEA: O caso da Smile Up”, foi realizada uma análise aos níveis de eficiência das clínicas pertencentes ao grupo Smile Up Clínicas Dentárias, com o propósito de determinar quais as clínicas que operaram de forma eficiente durante o ano de 2020. O principal objetivo do trabalho passa pela aplicação de uma metodologia de análise de eficiência às clínicas do grupo nova para a empresa. Para este fim aplicou-se o modelo de Banker, Charnes e Cooper (BCC), orientado para outputs, com três inputs e dois outputs, de modo a determinar o nível de eficiência de cada uma das clínicas em análise. Como inputs foram selecionadas a quantidade de colaboradores a trabalhar em cada clínica, a quantidade de gabinetes disponíveis e a quantidade de horas que cada clínica esteve aberta durante o ano de 2020. Para outputs, selecionámos o volume de faturação de cada clínica durante o ano de 2020 e a quantidade de novos pacientes que chegaram à clínica no ano de 2020.Os resultados alcançados indicam quais as clínicas do grupo que funcionaram de forma eficiente no ano de 2020. Estes resultados serão apresentados no final do trabalho, indicando ainda quais destas clínicas servirão de exemplo para as restantes clínicas ineficientes bem como a distribuição por zonas geográficas destes resultados. Também serão indicadas algumas conclusões do trabalho realizado, bem como algumas perspetivas futuras para a empresa no que toca ao uso desta nova metodologia.

This work entitled “Efficiency evaluation of dental clinics using DEA: The case study of Smile Up” performed an analysis, using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), to the efficiency of the dental clinics of the SmileUp Clínicas Dentárias group, and shows which of their clinics are operating at an efficient level. The primary goal of this work is to apply a methodology of analysis to the clinics of the group, which is new for this company.The model used was the Banker, Charnes and Cooper’s (BCC) model, with an output orientation, with three inputs and two outputs, with the goal to determine the level of efficiency of each one of the clinics that were part of the analysis. The quantity of workers in each clinic, the quantity of offices available for giving consultations and the number of hours each clinic was opened in 2020 were the inputs selected for the study. As for the outputs we selected the gross billing of each clinic during the year of 2020 as well as the quantity of new costumers that each clinic gained during the year 2020. The results obtained show which clinics of the group operated at an efficient level during the year 2020. These results will be presented at the end of the report, showing also which of these will serve as a role model for the inefficient ones, as well as the geographic distribution of the results that were obtained. In the end, some conclusions of the paper are presented, as well as some future objectives and perspectives regarding the use of this methodology.
