MENINGITE POR ENTEROVÍRUS EM IDADE PEDIÁTRICA NOS ÚLTIMOS 10 ANOS

Abstract

A meningite vírica a enterovírus é uma das causas mais frequentes de meningite em idade pediátrica podendo afetar desde recém-nascidos até adolescentes.O nosso objetivo com este trabalho foi analisar os casos de meningite por enterovírus, em crianças e adolescentes, bem como avaliar potenciais sequelas resultantes da doença. Para isso, foi realizado um estudo retrospetivo, observacional, efetuado no HP-CHUC. Foram incluídos todos os casos de crianças, dos zero aos 18 anos, internadas no HP-CHUC, nos últimos 10 anos (2012-2021) com meningite por enterovírus.Foram analisadas a forma de apresentação clínica, a gravidade da infeção, a evolução e eventuais sequelas. .......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Viral meningitis caused by enterovirus is one of the leading causes for meningitis in pediatric age, affecting every age since newborn to adolescence. Our goal with this work was not only to analyse enterovirus meningitis cases in pediatric age, but also to assess potential sequels that could come from this disease. For that purpose, an observational retrospective study was conducted in the HP-CHUC. In this study were included every person in pediatric age, from 0 to 18 years old, that were hospitalized in the HP-CHUC, in the last 10 years (2012-2021), due to Enterovirus meningitis.
