Centro de Memória de Buarcos: Utentes do Centro de Dia Historiam os Turistas do Museu do Mar

Abstract

A presente dissertação do Mestrado Integrado em Arquitetura da Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade de Coimbra insere-se no tema de Atelier de Projeto C, o Mar e a Cidade, tendo a cidade da Figueira da Foz como lugar de intervenção. Este tema implica a reflexão sobre o mar como território, uma vez que estamos habituados a pensar no território circunscrito à terra. A dualidade mar/cidade tem de ser refletida e trabalhada de forma conjunta, pretendendo-se articular estes dois elementos. Focando a zona de intervenção em Buarcos, é imperativo reconhecer o passado do local e dos seus habitantes. Esta vila vivia predominantemente do mar e do que ele propiciava, fosse da pesca junto à costa, fosse da navegação de alto mar. Ao longo dos anos, a identidade da vila de Buarcos tem-se vindo a perder e, diante essa realidade, a implantação de um Centro de Memória torna-se essencial para relembrar e preservar a memória vivida nesta vila. Deste modo, o Centro de Memória, localizado na transição de Buarcos com a Tamargueira, servirá a população mais envelhecida de Buarcos, disponibilizando um centro de dia para cuidar e atender esta população, e simultaneamente permitindo que estes utentes possam narrar os seus costumes, tradições, histórias e memórias na área museológica agregada. Assim, o equipamento divide-se em duas partes. A Nascente, encontra-se o centro de dia, que atenderá às necessidades básicas do dia-a-dia da população mais envelhecida de Buarcos. A Poente encontra-se o museu do mar, com diversas exposições relacionadas com a temática do mar. O espaço comum destes dois programas acontece a meio, onde existe a relação dos turistas com a população historiadora.

The present dissertation of the Integrated Master's Degree in Architecture at the Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade de Coimbra is part of the theme of Atelier de Projeto C, the Sea and the City, with the city of Figueira da Foz as the intervention site. This theme implies reflection on the sea as a territory, as we are accustomed to thinking of the territory confined to land. The duality of sea/city must be reflected upon and worked on jointly, aiming to articulate these two elements. Focusing on the intervention area in Buarcos, it is imperative to acknowledge the history of the place and its inhabitants. This village predominantly lived off the sea and what it provided, whether it was fishing along the coast or deep-sea navigation. Over the years, the identity of the village of Buarcos has been fading away, and considering this reality, the establishment of a Center of Memory becomes essential to remember and preserve the lived memory of this village. Thus, the Center of Memory, located in the transition area between Buarcos and Tamargueira, will serve the elderly of Buarcos, providing a day care center to care for and attend this population, while also allowing these users to narrate their customs, traditions, stories, and memories within the associated museum area. Therefore, the facility is divided into two parts. To the East, there is the day care center, which will meet the basic daily needs of the older population of Buarcos. To the West, there is the museum of the sea, with various exhibitions related to the theme of the sea. The common space for these two programs occurs in the middle, where it is intended to be a area of interaction between tourists and the "storytelling" population.
