Título: | Representações Sociais da Violência entre Parceiros Íntimos em Estudantes Universitários Portugueses: A importância das variáveis Autoestima e Narcisismo | Outros títulos: | Social Representations of Intimate Partner Violence on Portuguese University Students: The importance of the variables Self-esteem and Narcissism | Autor: | Dantas, Maria Isabel Andrade | Orientador: | Paixão, Rui Alexandre Paquete | Palavras-chave: | social representations; intimate partner violence; university students; self-esteem; narcissism; representações sociais; violência entre parceiros íntimos; estudantes universitários; autoestima; narcisismo | Data: | 25-Out-2023 | Título da revista, periódico, livro ou evento: | Representações Sociais da Violência entre Parceiros Íntimos em Estudantes Universitários Portugueses: A importância das variáveis Autoestima e Narcisismo | Local de edição ou do evento: | Coimbra | Resumo: | The present investigation aims to identify the social representations of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) in a sample of 251 Portuguese university students. The importance of the variables self-esteem, narcissism, and variables related to violence, whether in childhood and/or adolescence or relationships, in the social representations of IPV was also explored. To this end, an online research protocol was used that included a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Conjugal Violence Questionnaire – Stories (QRVC-HIS), the Scale of Beliefs about Conjugal Violence (ECVC), the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (EAR), and the 13-item Narcissistic Personality Inventory (NPI-13). The results reflect low levels of acceptance of IPV in this sample, with higher legitimization from male participants, subjects who have never been in a romantic relationship, and those who are at the beginning of their academic career. There was no influence of self-esteem, narcissism, age, course, or the experience of having experienced and/or witnessed violence in childhood and/or adolescence on students' social representations of IPV. The results also allowed us to conclude that in this sample what predicts higher legitimization of IPV is being male, followed by never having been involved in a romantic relationship. . . |
