(RE)Unir Gerações O Papel da Arquitetura na Realização de um Equipamento Público Intergeracional

Abstract

A presente dissertação, integrada no Atelier de Projeto I/II B cujo tema é “Construir o Limite -Entre Planos”, propõe uma estratégia de desenho urbano num espaço com um crescimento informal, que estabeleça uma conexão com a envolvente e a conceção de equipamentos de carácter público. Esta proposta está inserida em Coimbra, cidade que nas últimas décadas foi alvo de uma vasta expansão urbana. O distanciamento entre as várias faixas etárias, cada vez mais saliente e que dificulta a motivação das relações sociais, poderá ser contornado e até gradualmente solucionado com a apresentação de um equipamento de proximidade de âmbito social e educativo, nomeadamente um jardim de infância, uma creche, um espaço de apoio comunitário e social (destinado a atividades sociais, culturais e associativas), um OTL (Ocupação de Tempos Livres) e uma mediateca. Sendo a própria localização da área de intervenção detentora de uma grande diversidade de gerações, que inclui o Polo II com uma comunidade estudantil, a Quinta da Portela com uma população de várias faixas etárias e a Vila Franca composta maioritariamente por uma população envelhecida, surge a necessidade de um programa com o objetivo de reunir várias gerações.O surgimento de uma ideia de união resultou na escolha de um projeto intergeracional, tornando-se um elemento de integração, tanto para a cidade como para a comunidade. Este consiste em promover a convivência entre indivíduos de diferentes faixas etárias, possibilitando a reaproximação e interação de gerações. O presente trabalho pretende integrar a população num edifício que, mesmo tendo várias unidades programáticas, permite que estas funcionem independentemente, possuindo elementos conectores, quer seja através do espaço exterior ou de percursos interiores que interligam o edifício. As unidades programáticas inseridas no edifício não são estanques, permitindo que possam ser utilizadas para outras funções quando estas não estiverem a ser utilizadas, através de espaços multifuncionais. A Arquitetura tem um papel primordial na concretização deste edifício, pois através da adaptabilidade, da flexibilidade e da apropriação do espaço, este edifício consegue responder às necessidades da comunidade.

The present dissertation, integrated in the Project Atelier I/II B whose theme is "Building the Boundary - Between Planes", proposes an urban design strategy in a space of informal growth that establishes a connection with the surroundings and the conception of public equipment. This proposal is inserted in Coimbra, a city that in recent decades has undergone a vast urban expansion. The distance between the various age groups, which is increasingly evident and hinders the motivation of social relations, can be circumvented and even gradually solved with the presentation of proximity equipment of social and educational scope, including a kindergarten, a daycare center, a space for community and social support (for social, cultural and associative activities), an OTL (Occupation of Free Time) and a media library and. As the very location of the intervention area has a great diversity of generations that includes, Polo II with a student community, Quinta da Portela with a population of various age groups and Vila Franca composed mostly of an aging population, the need for a program with the goal of bringing together various generations arises.The emergence of an idea of unity resulted in the choice of an intergenerational project, becoming an element of integration, for both the city and the community. This consists in promoting the coexistence between individuals of different age groups, enabling the re-approximation and interaction of generations. This work intends to integrate the population in a building that, even having several programmatic units, allows them to function independently, having connecting elements, either through the exterior space or through interior paths that connect the building. The programmatic units inserted in the building are not watertight, allowing them to be used for other functions when they are not being used, through multifunctional spaces. Architecture plays a key role in the realization of this building, because through adaptability, flexibility and appropriation of space, this building is able to meet the needs of the community.
