Literatura da Ditadura: O caso de «O que é isso, companheiro?»

Abstract

A presente dissertação pretende analisar as produções de testemunho redigidas por guerrilheiros urbanos no contexto da ditadura militar brasileira, em particular através do estudo da obra O que é isso, companheiro? de Fernando Gabeira. O objetivo deste estudo consiste na problematização da possível existência de uma “literatura da ditadura” constituída por literatura de testemunho, autobiografia e com influências do jornalismo literário. A investigação constituiu-se, neste contexto, como um estudo de caso alicerçado numa abrangente interpretação teórica e cujo objetivo radica na demonstração que, de facto, existe uma “literatura da ditadura” no Brasil.Para uma melhor compreensão da literatura do trauma, em que se insere a “literatura da ditadura”, procurou-se contextualizar a utilidade da literatura na Era das Catástrofes. Deste modo, esta dissertação percorre as várias correntes da literatura de testemunho, as produções do Holocausto e o testimonio hispano-americano, – numa tentativa de aplicação ao contexto brasileiro – articulando-as sempre que possível com a autobiografia. Nesta abordagem teórica enaltece-se o contributo do jornalismo num contexto de regimes ditatoriais, o modo como foi aplicado no Brasil o romance-reportagem e a distinção entre este e “literatura da ditadura”. Com efeito, este estudo propõe que a “literatura da ditadura” pode caracterizar-se como uma literatura de denúncia, especificamente, contra o regime militar brasileiro e que através da articulação do testemunho com a autobiografia – suas componentes principais – representa as funções que a literatura pode cumprir na Era das Catástrofes, nomeadamente a recuperação de discursos oprimidos, tal como sucede com a literatura de testemunho produzida pelos sobreviventes do Holocausto e com o testimonio hispano-americano.

The present dissertation intends to analyze the testimonial productions written by urban guerrilla fighters in the context of the Brazilian military dictatorship, in particular through the study of the book O que é isso, companheiro? by Fernando Gabeira. The aim of this study is to discuss the possible existence of a “literature of dictatorship” consisting of testimonial literature, autobiography and influenced by literary journalism. The investigation was constituted, in this context, as a case study based on a comprehensive theoretical interpretation and whose objective is to demonstrate that, in fact, there is a “literature of dictatorship” in Brazil.For a better understanding of trauma literature, in which the “literature of dictatorship” is inserted, this study tries to contextualize the usefulness of literature in the Age of Disasters. In this way, this dissertation covers the various currents of testimonial literature, the productions of the Holocaust and the Hispanic-American testimonio, – in an attempt to apply them to the Brazilian context – articulating them whenever possible with autobiography. In this theoretical approach, there is a highlight of the contribution of journalism in a context of dictatorial regimes, the way in which the novel-report was applied in Brazil and the distinction between it and “literature of dictatorship”.In fact, this study proposes that the “literature of dictatorship” can be characterized as a literature of denunciation, specifically, against the Brazilian military regime and that through the articulation of testimony with autobiography – its main components – it represents the functions that the literature can fulfill in the Age of Disasters, namely the recovery of oppressed discourses, as is the case of the testimonial literature produced by Holocaust survivors and the Hispanic-American testimonio.
