(Des) Construção da performance de expressões binárias de gênero na (no grupo) comunidade lésbica Estereótipos e Estigmas com um olhar de dentro e fora

Abstract

Esta dissertação é uma investigação qualitativa que tem como objetivo analisar as construções edesconstruções de estereótipos e estigmas de expressões e performances de gênero binários numgrupo de mulheres lésbicas condicionadas socialmente a um padrão heteronormativo. Em umaperspetiva teórica, constatou-se que a naturalização dos conceitos de gênero e sexo estádiretamente relacionada à consolidação da dominação masculina, base do sistema capitalistahétero-patriarcal que caracteriza as sociedades ocidentais. Entretanto, a desconstrução oudesnaturalização de tais binarismos, condição essencial à superação dessa dominação, passa porentendermos o papel da performatividade – a função normativa da performance –, os seus efeitose constrangimentos às experiências de vida das pessoas consideradas desviantes dos papéis degênero que lhes foram atribuídos. Portanto, este trabalho vem contribuir ao aprofundamento destatarefa teórica e política de desconstrução de binarismos, estigmas e hierarquias que marcam atrajetória de grupos historicamente oprimidos em nossas sociedades. Foram administradosquestionários sociodemográficos e entrevistas em profundidade com sete mulheres cisgênerolésbicas residentes em Portugal, de diferentes origens, classe social e raça. Foi constatada anecessidade de mostrar e perceber a construção dos conceitos que acompanham a “invenção” dasnormas e padrões e como é o processo de subjetividade individual das mulheres lésbicas. Sobreestereótipos e estigmas dentro da comunidade lésbica, sabemos que estes são efeitos de regulaçãoe dominação binária, sendo importante, da mesma forma, conhecer como foi o processo deconstrução desta invalidação e opressão, e, a partir deste conhecimento, construir mecanismosque proponham a legitimação de novas formas de existência, representatividade social dascomunidades marginalizadas e da diversidade sexual e identitária, ampliando estas existências aoinvés de reduzi-las.

This dissertation is a qualitative research that aims to analyze the constructions anddeconstructions of stereotypes and stigmas of binary gender expressions and performances in agroup of lesbian women socially conditioned to a heteronormative standard. From a theoreticalperspective, it was found that the naturalization of the concepts of gender and sex is directlyrelated to the consolidation of male domination, the basis of the hetero-patriarchal capitalistsystem that characterizes Western societies. However, the deconstruction or denaturalization ofsuch binarisms, an essential condition to overcome this domination, requires that the role ofperformativity is understood - the normative function of performance -, its effects and constraintson the life experiences of people considered deviant from the gender roles assigned to them.Therefore, this work contributes to the deepening of this theoretical and political task ofdeconstructing binarisms, stigmas and hierarchies that mark the trajectory of historicallyoppressed groups in our societies. Sociodemographic questionnaires and in-depth interviewswere assigned to seven cisgender lesbian women living in Portugal, from different backgrounds,social class and race. It was found necessary to show and understand the construction of theconcepts that follows the "invention" of norms and standards and how is the process of individualsubjectivity of lesbian women. Regarding stereotypes and stigmas within the lesbian community,we know that these are effects of regulation and binary domination, being crucial, in the sameway, to know how was the process of construction of this invalidation and oppression.Afterwards, from this knowledge, it is important to build mechanisms that propose thelegitimation of new forms of existence, social representation of marginalized communities and ofsexual and identity diversity, amplifying these existences instead of reducing them.
