Ficar mal na fotografia: Representação estereotipada do delegado de informação médica em filmes e séries de televisão

Abstract

Neste artigo, pretende-se discutir a oposição entre profissões e ocupações, dedicando particular atenção às situações intermédias que não cumprem na sua plenitude os requisitos de profissões, mas também não se enquadram no campo das ocupações, e os seus possíveis impactos na perceção pública da imagem desses profissionais. Recorre-se ao Delegado de Informação Médica[1], enquanto atividade que trabalha em estreita ligação com uma das mais respeitáveis e prestigiantes profissões, a médica, e procura perceber-se qual é a sua imagem pública. Para tal, observa-se a representação que é feita desses profissionais em filmes e séries de televisão. A análise permite concluir que a imagem construída nessas obras assenta em estereótipos que traçam um retrato pouco abonatório do profissional em questão.

This article aims to discuss the opposition between professions and occupations, paying particular attention to intermediate situations that do not fully meet the requirements of professions, but also do not fit into the field of occupations, and their possible impacts on the public perception of the image of these professionals. The activity of Pharmaceutical Sales Representative, as an activity that deals closely with doctors, one of the most respectable and prestigious professions, is analyzed and it is intended to perceive what is the public image of this professionals. To do so, one observes the representation that is made of these professionals in films and TV shows. The analysis leads to the conclusion that the image constructed in these works is based on stereotypes that give a poor portrait of the professional in question.
