Devolver à Cidade a Educação da ALdeia Pedagogia Waldorf num Infantário em Coimbra

Abstract

Esta dissertação, inserida no Atelier de Projeto B, tem como objetivo estudar e projetar uma Creche, ATL e Jardim de Infância e um Centro Social e Comunitário em Coimbra, Vila Franca. Neste local existia um aglomerado informal com baixa densidade populacional onde predominava o contacto com a natureza, tendo essa essência sido alterada com a expansão da Cidade de Coimbra. Em Portugal, a diferença entre a aldeia e a cidade é permanentemente discutida e realçada em vários aspetos de vivência e evolução em comunidade, onde também o tema da educação não passa ao lado desta discussão. Ao longo dos séculos vários pedagogos estudaram os problemas inerentes à educação vigente de cada país, percebendo as suas lacunas para que estas fossem corrigidas e melhoradas ao longo dos tempos. Assim, também em Portugal foi necessário refletir sobre a diferença de educação entre os vários espaços do território nacional desde a aldeia à cidade, percebendo as suas diferenças e as características da educação legislada. Como tal, surge a seguinte questão: Como podemos trazer esta “educação da aldeia”, mais livre, mais natural, para uma cidade que quer ser metrópole?Depois de estudadas pedagogias alternativas, tais como a Pedagogia Montessori, compreendeu-se que a pedagogia Waldorf vem dar resposta a esta questão, sendo um método pedagógico alternativo, que assenta na premissa de devolver à cidade a educação da aldeia e a reaproximação da natureza com a comunidade. Com estes objetivos em mente, o projeto arquitetónico propõe dar resposta ao método pedagógico Waldorf, desde a relação do exterior com a natureza, a relação do interior com as necessidades da criança e também a relação da materialidade com a pedagogia. Assim, a dissertação mostrará de que forma a arquitetura consegue responder à Pedagogia Waldorf, projetando um edifício de raiz, algo inovador em território nacional, uma vez que, a Pedagogia Waldorf está pouco presente em Portugal.

This dissertation, inserted in Atelier de Projeto B, aims to study, and design a Daycare, Kindergarten and a Social and Community Center in Vila Franca, Coimbra. This was a “village” with a low population density where contact with nature predominated. However, this essence changed with the expansion of the city of Coimbra. In Portugal, the differences between villages and cities are permanently discussed and highlighted in several aspects of living and evolving the community. In this sense, education is one of the core aspects of such discussions.Along the centuries various pedagogues studied the problems relating to the working method of education in each country, understanding it’s gaps so that they could be fixed and improved upon over time. Thus, in Portugal, it was also necessary to reflect about the difference of education among several regions of the national territory, from the village to the city, perceiving their differences and the legal features of the prevailing method of education. With such, the question arises: How can we bring this freer, more natural “village education” to a city that wants to be a metropolis?So the question arises: How can we bring this freer, more natural "village education" to a city that wants to be a metropolis?The Waldorf pedagogy is an alternative pedagogical method that bases itself on bringing back to the city the Education of the village and on the re-approximation of nature with the community. With these goals in mind, the architectural project proposes to react to the Waldorf pedagogical method. It will foster the relationship between the exterior and nature, the interior with the child and the relationship of materiality with pedagogy. Thus, the dissertation will show how architecture can respond to the Waldorf Pedagogy, designing a building from scratch, something innovative in Portugal since Waldorf Pedagogy is little present there.
