Biography
Strong background in cell biology and extensive biomedical research experience in immunology and gene editing. BSc in Biochemistry (2013) and MSc in Cellular and Molecular Biology (2015) at the University of Coimbra. Spent 5 years in the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology (Coimbra, Portugal) working on breast cancer cell metabolism (BSc project, Dr. Paulo Oliveira - Mitochondrial Toxicology and Disease group), and in nanocarrier functionalization and gene editing of glioblastoma cancer stem cells (MSc thesis, Prof. Conceicao Pedroso de Lima - Vectors and Gene Therapy group).
Awarded an Individual Grant by the FCT in 2017 to conduct my graduate studies at the University of Cambridge in the group of Prof. Randall Johnson. Visiting researcher at the Karolinska Institute (Stockholm, Sweden) to conduct animal experimentation component of the PhD work. Currently based at the Department of Physiology, Development and Neuroscience (Cambridge, UK) working on the role of hypoxia in CD8+T cell function and CAR-T cell immunotherapy.
