Insegurança Alimentar em canções brasileiras no eixo Rio-São Paulo durante o governo de Getúlio Vargas (1930-1954)

Abstract

The first Food Public Policies in order to combat hunger in Brazil emerged in thehistorical period of 1930-1954, under the rule of President Getúlio Vargas in his authoritarianand constitutional stages of government. During this period, there was a revolution in thecultural and musical scenery, which became known as the “Radio Era”, marked bystrengthening musical production, spreading popular songs and news, inflaming existingpolitical disputes: radio becomes a spokesperson of Brazilian social demands. The goal ofthis work is to survey the number of food references in popular Brazilian music throughoutthe Varguista governments, to discuss their expressiveness and to detect the awareness ofFood Insecurity in these mentions. In order to identify food references, the systematic methodof analysis of the literary corpus of a sample of sixty-three songs attached to this study wasused, of which, twenty-one songs are directly analyzed for their mentions. From this analysis,therefore, the frequency of food references that expose food insecurity an important part ofthe political and social environment experienced in the same period. From this analysis, it becomes evident that food references expose food insecurity as an important part of the political and social portrait experienced in the same period.It can be confirmed, given the development of the theme, that the foods referenced in the literary corpus of the songs included in this work reflect the Brazilian food culture. One of the main discoveries, during the treatment of the selected songs, was the appearance of the same foods found in the composition of the "Cesta Básica Nacional", one of the first Food and Nutrition Policies by the Brazilian State. In a practical way, it can be said that the whole of the Brazilian musical corpus of this historical period studied unconsciously represented the main foods of their eating habits.

As primeiras Políticas Públicas de Alimentação de combate à fome no Brasil surgiram no intervalo histórico de 1930-1954, sob o poder do presidente Getúlio Vargas em suas fases de governo autoritário e constitucionais. Neste período, ocorreu uma revolução no meio cultural e musical, que ficou conhecida como a “ Era do rádio”, marcada pelo fortalecer da produção musical, difundir canções populares e noticiar, inflamando as disputas políticas existentes: a rádio torna-se porta-voz das demandas sociais brasileiras. O objetivo deste trabalho é fazer o levantamento do número das referências alimentares mencionadas em músicas populares brasileiras durante toda a regência Varguista, discutir sua expressividade e detetar a consciência da Insegurança Alimentar nestas menções. Com a finalidade de identificar as referências alimentares, foi utilizado o método sistemático de análise do corpus literário de uma amostra de sessenta e três músicas anexadas a este estudo, das quais, vinte e uma são analisadas diretamente por suas menções.A partir desta análise, torna-se evidente que as referências alimentares expõem a insegurança alimentar como parte importante do retrato político e social vivenciados no mesmo período. Pode-se confirmar, dado o desenvolvimento do tema, que os alimentos referenciados no corpus literário das canções acolhidas por este trabalho refletem a cultura alimentar brasileira. Uma das principais descobertas, ao longo do tratamento das músicas selecionadas, foi o aparecimento dos mesmos alimentos encontrados na composição da Cesta Básica Nacional, umas das primeiras Políticas de Alimentação e Nutrição pelo Estado brasileiro. De forma prática, pode-se dizer, que o conjunto do corpus musical brasileiro desse período histórico estudado representou inconscientemente os alimentos primordiais do seu hábito alimentar.
