Relatório de Estágio e Monografia intitulada "Medicamentos Manipulados: o seu potencial na Farmácia de Oficina"

Abstract

Farmácia Comunitária é uma das maiores e mais conhecidas saídas profissionais após o término do Mestrado Integrado em Ciências Farmacêuticas. Realizar estágio curricular nesta área, mais particularmente na Farmácia Barreiros, no Porto, foi uma excelente oportunidade para colocar em prática os conteúdos adquiridos na faculdade, mas, principalmente, para adquirir novos conhecimentos essenciais para a minha formação enquanto futura farmacêutica. Desde sempre que os medicamentos manipulados são associados à profissão farmacêutica, motivo pelo qual esta profissão tanto se orgulha. Contudo, se outrora, a única alternativa para obter a medicação necessária era através da manipulação pelos boticários, com a revolução industrial, os medicamentos passaram a ser produzidos em grande escala nas indústrias farmacêuticas. No entanto, não foi por isso que a produção de medicamentos manipulados caiu totalmente em desuso, uma vez que continua a haver certas populações e pessoas individuais que não encontram no mercado os medicamentos com as características necessárias para fazer face às suas necessidades. Por essa razão, a manipulação de medicamentos nas farmácias de oficina continua a ser bastante requisitada por parte de determinadas áreas como por exemplo pediatria, geriatria, dermatologia, medicina veterinária e homeopatia.Fruto da era digital que vivemos, também a área da saúde tem sofrido alterações e tem sido alvo de uma evolução e inovação tecnológicas, que têm permitido melhorar os cuidados de saúde prestados à população. A tecnologia permitiu o aparecimento do conceito de medicina personalizada, que viabiliza a adaptação do tratamento médico às necessidades e características pessoais da cada pessoa, bem como melhora a prevenção e promoção de saúde. Outra inovação diz respeito às impressoras tridimensionais (3D) ao serviço da saúde, mais particularmente ao serviço da farmácia, permitindo a impressão de medicamentos num curto espaço de tempo e de forma personalizada. Este trabalho, para além de fazer uma análise crítica e fundamentada do estágio curricular, aborda também o potencial dos medicamentos manipulados em farmácia de oficina, focando-se nos aspetos legislativos e regulamentares, nas áreas de maior interesse e refletindo sobre o seu futuro.

Community Pharmacy is one of the biggest and most popular professional opportunities after completing the MSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences. Doing my curricular internship in this area, particularly in Farmácia Barreiros, in Oporto, was an excellent opportunity to put into practice the contents acquired in college, but mainly to acquire new knowledge essential to my training as a future pharmacist. Compounded drugs have always been associated with the pharmaceutical profession, a reason for which this profession is so proud. However, if in the past, the only alternative to obtain the necessary medication was through compounding by apothecaries, with the industrial revolution, drugs started to be produced on a large scale in pharmaceutical industries. However, this didn´t mean that the production of compound drugs fell completely out of use, since there are still certain populations and individuals who cannot find medicines with the characteristics necessary to meet their needs on the market. For this reason, the manipulation of medicines in pharmacies is still in great demand in certain areas, such as pediatrics, geriatrics, dermatology, veterinary medicine and homeopathy.As a result of the digital era we live in, the health area has also undergone changes and has been the target of technological evolution and innovation, which have allowed for the improvement of health care provided to the population. Technology has allowed the emergence of the concept of personalized medicine, which enables the adaptation of medical treatment to the needs and personal characteristics of each person, as well as improving prevention and health promotion. Another innovation concerns three-dimensional (3D) printers at the service of health, more particularly at the pharmacy service, allowing the printing of medicines in a short period of time and in a personalized way. This work, in addition to providing a critical and reasoned analysis of the internship, also addresses the potential of manipulated medicines in the retail pharmacy, focusing on the legislative and regulatory aspects, the areas of greatest interest and reflecting on its future.
