dc.description.abstractEste estudo teve como objetivo abordar o papel das estratégias de (des)regulação emocional, das experiências emocionais positivas e do afeto (positivo e negativo) no envolvimento organizacional (engagement) e na satisfação por compaixão em profissionais de emergência médica pré-hospitalar. A amostra constituída somou 81 profissionais do Instituto Nacional de Emergência Médica, que completaram um protocolo de instrumentos de autorresposta desenhado para avaliar as variáveis em estudo. Foram feitas análises de correlação para explorar as relações entre as variáveis e análises de regressão linear para perceber o contributo das dificuldades de regulação emocional, do afeto e das experiências emocionais positivas na predição da satisfação por compaixão e do engagement. Os resultados evidenciaram a importância nuclear do afeto positivo e das dimensões do envolvimento organizacional como variáveis preditoras da satisfação por compaixão. Por sua vez, a satisfação por compaixão revelou ser a variável em estudo que mais contribui para a dedicação, vigor e absorção no trabalho, dimensões que constituem o engagement. Estes dados contribuem para a clarificação dos mecanismos emocionais envolvidos no bem-estar subjetivo relacionado com o trabalho de prestação de cuidados e reforçam ainda a importância do desenvolvimento de intervenções que visem promover o afeto positivo e o envolvimento organizacional, já que estes parecem ser centrais na manutenção da satisfação por compaixão nos profissionais de emergência pré-hospitalar estudados.pt
dc.description.abstractMedical emergency professionals are frequently exposed to stressfull situations and highly demanding tasks related to their job. The main goals of this investigation were to study the role of emotion regulation strategies, early positive emocional memories, positive and negative affect on engagement and compassion satisfaction in medical emergency professionals. The participants were 81 professional of the portuguese Nacional Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) who completed a protocol of self-report measures designed to acess the variables being investigated. Analysis of correlation were made to explore the relations between the variables and regression analysis to understand the contribution of emotion regulation strategies, early positive emocional memories, positive and negative affect to the explanation of engament and compassion satisfaction. The results have shown the nuclear importance of positive affect and of the three dimensions of engagement in the prediction of compassion satisfaction. In turn compassion satisfaction has proved to be the variable in this investigation that most contributes to dedication, vigor and absorption, dimensions of engagement. This data helps clarificate the emotional mecanisms that contribute to the subjective well-being in healthcare related work and reinforce the importance of developing interventions that seek to promote positive affect and engagement, as these semm to play a central role in maintaining compassion satisfaction among medical emergency professionals.pt
