Violência de Género Contra as Mulheres O Caso das Mulheres Acompanhadas na APAV

Abstract

Este relatório de estágio apresenta a problemática violência contra as mulheres nas relações de intimidade. Ainda que o conceito de violência doméstica seja mais frequentemente utilizado, não entendemos ser assaz específico para conduzir ao cerne da questão investigada no presente trabalho. Apesar de estarmos perante um fenómeno que, hoje, granjeia mais visibilidade, sendo de crescente interesse por parte dos poderes políticos, nomeadamente tendo em conta a mobilização dos esforços que têm sido empreendidos na sua resolução, o certo é que o número de mulheres vítimas de violência nas relações de intimidade é crescente, bem como o número de homicídios. É, de facto, um flagelo a nível mundial e, ainda que existam estudos nesse sentido, torna-se necessário continuar a investigar para uma melhor compreensão do fenómeno. Nesse sentido, foi proposto a elaboração do estágio na APAV do Porto, de modo a compreender e operacionalizar a intervenção desenvolvida com mulheres vítimas de violência nas relações de intimidade e entender as principias características e necessidades das mesmas. O estudo procurou perceber qual a influência da situação económica das mulheres que são vítimas de violência nas relações de intimidade durante o processo de autonomização, ou seja, após a rutura da relação. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida por meio da adoção de uma metodologia qualitativa, que utilizou entrevistas narrativas. Foram realizadas quatro entrevistas, sendo que duas foram no local de estágio e as restantes numa casa abrigo. O estudo demonstra que a rede de apoio formal (neste estudo é analisado o apoio prestado pela APAV) são imprescindíveis no atendimento e acompanhamento das mulheres vítimas nas relações de intimidade. Verificamos que os apoios são muito limitados tendo em conta as dificuldades económicas, nomeadamente no que se refere ao apoio a habitação. Apesar das mulheres com a rutura conquistarem a autonomia de gestão financeira, são diversas as dificuldades que enfrentam em termos de aquisição dos bens. O estudo demonstra, igualmente, uma diferença no processo de autonomização entre as mulheres que integram a casa abrigo e as outras, pelo facto de durante o período que se encontram na casa abrigo ser garantida a habitação e o acesso a alimentação e outros bens essenciais. Deverão, pois, ser repensadas políticas de apoio às vítimas no processo de autonomização, particularmente daquelas que pretendem concretizar este processo de forma mais autónoma, sem recorrerem a casa abrigo.

This internship report presents the problematic of violence against women in intimate relationships. Although the concept of domestic violence is more frequently used, we don’t understand it to be quite specific to lead to the heart of the issue investigated in the present study. Although we’re facing a phenomenon that today, gains more visibility, being part of increasing interest by part of the political powers, namely taking into account the mobilization of the efforts that have been undertaken in its resolution, the fact is that the number of women victims of violence in intimate relationships is growing, as well as the number of homicides. It is, in fact, a scourge worldwide and, although there are studies in this direction, it is necessary to continue investigating for a better understanding of the phenomenon. That way, it was proposed to prepare the internship at APAV in Porto, in order to understand and operationalize the intervention developed with women victims of violence in intimate relationships and to understand their main characteristics and needs. The study sought to understand the influence of the economic situation of women who are victims of violence in intimate relationships during the process of empowerment, that is, after the break of the relationship. The research was developed through the adoption of a qualitative methodology, which used narrative interviews. Four interviews were conducted, two of which took place at the internship site and the rest at a Casa Abrigo. The study demonstrates that the formal support network (in this study, the support provided by APAV is analyzed) are essential in the care and monitoring of women victims in intimate relationships. We find that support is very limited in view of economic difficulties, particularly with regard to housing support. Despite the ruptured women gaining autonomy in financial management, there are several difficulties they face in terms of acquiring assets. The study also demonstrates a difference in the autonomization process between women who are part of the shelter and the others, due to the fact that during the period they are in the shelter housing and access to food and other essential goods are guaranteed. Therefore, policies to support victims in the autonomization process should be rethought, particularly those that intend to carry out this process more autonomously, without resorting to a shelter.
